Dumb lyrics
You know phrases or words in songs that are just stupid.

Such as:

The Look -- By Roxette

>>>Tasty like a raindrop, she's got the look
>>>Heavenly bound cos heaven's got a number
>>>When she's spinning me around, kissing is a colour
>>>Her loving is a wild dog, she's got the look

Tasty like a raindrop? Are they really that tasty?
Kissing is a color? Really? Which one?

Ice Ice Baby--Vanilla Ice (very cheesy song, but admit it, you probably sang along and still do) :P

>>>Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle

Wax a chump like a candle? What does that mean?

>>>I'm cooking MCs like a pound of bacon

That's real hip-hop I tell ya :eyes:

1. All of Bohemian Rhapsody, obviously
even if it is a great big barrel of fun (especially when you're wasted).

Oh, and you can add everything by the Sisters of Mercy, although their stuff is a whole lot less fun than Bohemian Rhapsody. ;)

2. Bohemian Rhapsody is kind of nutty!
But it is fun to sing along to!

3. Hey! Don't mess with Sisters
Though yeah, most of their songs sound like they were written under the influence. :P

As far as lyrics go I think my favorite album is First and Last and Always. Marian is a really haunting song to me, probably because I nearly died from drowning when I was 11. I also like Some Kind of Stranger.

4. I *like* the Sisters!
I'm just saying that their lyrics are nonsense. I can't make any sense of them, anyway.

but usually Gwen was cool enough to pull it off.

I liked No Doubt better then just Gwen.

11. "Kissing is a color" is sort of poetic.
"U Got The Look" was written by Prince, who was sometimes very colorful and enigmatic with his lyrics.

As far as Vanilla Ice goes, everything he did was stupid. I thought my eyes would roll right out of my head when he denied sampling from "Under Pressure."

The way his career crashed and burned was one of the best instances of schadenfreude I can think of.

17. The ultimate dumb lyric song:
MacArthur Park

Written by: Jimmy Webb
Sung by: Richard Harris or Donna Summer, equally silly.

Spring was never waiting for us, girl
It ran one step ahead
As we followed in the dance
Between the parted pages and were pressed
In love's hot, fevered iron
Like a striped pair of pants

MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

I recall the yellow cotton dress
Foaming like a wave
On the ground around your knees
The birds, like tender babies in your hands
And the old men playing checkers by the trees

MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

There will be another song for me
For I will sing it
There will be another dream for me
Someone will bring it
I will drink the wine while it is warm
And never let you catch me looking at the sun
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
You'll still be the one

I will take my life into my hands and I will use it
I will win the worship in their eyes and I will lose it
I will have the things that I desire
And my passion flow like rivers through the sky
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
I'll be thinking of you
And wondering why

MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!
Oh, no
No, no
Oh no!!

Written as a "groovy psychadelic" kind of song, by someone who didn't know what psychadelic meant.

so English is their second language.

Vanilla Ice, however... there's no excuse for him.

I could see me trying to sing a song in Swedish. I would get ripped to shreds and rightfully so!!! :P And Prince wrote the song, so there you go.

Vanilla Ice is a travesty to all rappers.

21. "Summer Girls" by LFO...........HANDS DOWN.
I don't even need to highlite the shittiest parts of the song, for all the parts of the song are quite shitty. Just read these lyrics. They are just shameless.

Yeah...I like it when the girls stop by.. In the summer
Do you remember, Do you remember?
...when we met..That summer??

New Kids On The block, had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick.
And I think it's fly when girls stop by for the summer, for the summer
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch,
I'd take her if I had one wish,
But she's been gone since that summer..
Since that summer

Hip Hop Marmalade spic And span,
Met you one summer and it all began
Your the best girl that I ever did see,
The great Larry Bird Jersey 33
When you take a sip you buzz like a hornet
Billy Shakespere wrote a whole bunch of sonnets
Call me Willy Whistle cause I can't speak baby
Sumthin in your eyes went and drove me crazy
Now I can't forget you and it makes me mad,
Left one day and never came back
Stayed all summer then went back home,
Macauly Culkin wasn't Home Alone
Fell deep in love, but now we ain't speakin
Michael J Fox was Alex P Keaton
When I met you I said my name was Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch

New Kids On The block, had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick.
And I think it's fly when girls stop by for the summer, for the summer
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch,
I'd take her if I had one wish,
But she's been gone since that summer..
Since that summer

Cherry Pez,cold crush,rock star boogie
Used to hate school so I had to play hookie,
Always been hip to the B-boY Style
Known to act wild and make girls smile,
Love New Edition and the Candy Girl
Remind me of you because you rock my world
You come from Georgia where the peaches grow
They drink lemonade and speak real slow
You love hip hop and rock n roll
Dad took off when you were 4 years old
There was a good man named Paul Revere
I feel much better baby when you're near
You love fun dip and cherry Coke,
I like the way you laugh when I tell a joke
When I met you I said my name was Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch

Bridge In the summertime girls got it goin on,
Shake and wiggle to a hip hop song
Summertime girls are the kind I like,
I'll steal your honey like I stole your bike

Bugaloo shrimp and pogo sticks
My mind takes me back there oh so quick
Let you off the hook like my man Mr. Lipit
Think about that summer and I bug, cause I miss it
Like the color purple, macaroni and cheese,
Ruby red slippers and a bunch of trees
Call you up but whats the use
I like Kevin Bacon,but I hate Footloose
Came in the door I said it before,I think I'm over you
but I'm really not sure
When I met you I said my name was Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch
repeat Chorus

In the summer girls come and summer girls go
Some are worth while and some are so so,
Summer girls come and summer girls go
Some are worth while and some are so so,
Summertime girls got it goin on
Shake and wiggle to a hip hop song
Summertime girls are the kind I like
I'll steal your honey like I stole your bike

23. As touching as this song was for me
Edited on Thu Oct-20-05 02:34 PM by Shell Beau
(since it came out around the time my brother died) some of the lyrics are stupid (and it was obviously Stings song)

>>>I'll be Missing You (Puff Daddy)
>>>Give anything to hear half your breath (half your breath)
>>>I know you still living you're life, after death

Half your breath? What does half a breath sound like?

30. "Wanna get my degree so I can smoke the weed"
During my undergraduate years, I walked in on an aspiring rapper recording his newest track. I can't remember most of the lyrics, but I'll never forget: 'wanna get my degree so I can smoke the weed.' It doesn't get any dumber.

32. For what it's worth...
..."Wax a chump like a candle" means this:

To "wax" someone means, among other things, to kill someone. So he's "waxing a chump", and does so "like a candle" because candles, of course, produce literal wax. I've heard worse similes in rap songs, but it's still not very clever. So yeah, that's what it means. :)
