Child stars who've negotiated a path to success as an adult?
Edited on Thu Oct-20-05 05:50 PM by Mayberry Machiavelli
Ron Howard comes to mind. I guess Shirley Temple too.

Too many sad examples to count...

I guess some might include Robert Blake in the "successful adult" list, LOL.

Can't remember his 'indian' name but he was the little sidekick to Red Rider...a western. He couldn't have been more than 10 at the most.

27. Actually I remember seeing a clip during one of the Oscar shows,
of Elizabeth Taylor in some movie as a 10 year old, can't remember if it was "National Velvet" or some throwaway bit part of another film. She had an incredible luminous beauty, and star power even then.

she was in a couple of Lassie movies, she had a bit part in Jane Eyre, and a bunch of others I can't remember now, but you're right, she was a star from that first moment the camera filmed her.

21. Anna Paquin is getting there
Though she's not appearing in much, and didn't plan to be an actress after she won the Oscar for her *INCREDIBLE* performance in "The Piano".

Also Scarlett Johannson, who was fantabulous in "The Horse Whisperer" is definitely continuing on and in many ways getting better.

28. How did Shirley Temple negotiated a path to success as an
adult? She was one of the most successful child star, if not the most successful ever. What had she done since (career wise), that can even compare to what she did as a tot?

44. Married to a MAJOR Republican behind-the-scenes type
and therefore was granted diplomatic posts as Ambassador to the UN and Ambassador to Ghana.

When she was in her thirties, she had a TV show called Shirley Temple's Storybook, which were dramatizations of fairy tales and children's classics in which she always had a major role.

But she was a terrible actress as a child. She had two modes: shouting with a frown and shouting with a smile.
