A couple months ago, my formerly live-in SO had to move 35 miles away to take a good job. (I offered to move halfway for her, but she didn't go for that.) So we see eachother every weekend (we've both been working long hours lately).
My assistant quit, and I'm doing the work of two graphic designers, putting in twelve hour days and longer. My sweetheart just told me she's sick, and I'm like, "There is no way I can come see you this weekend! If I get the flu, I still have to work! Without me the paper doesn't go out and the company would collapse." She understands my reasoning, she knows I love her madly...and she is so hurt. :(
So am I. My happy escape from the grind has just been shot to hell. And she thinks I'm a cad for not coming up to expose myself to the germs. Hell, if there was someone to cover for me if I get too sick to work, I'd be there now, nursing her back to health, pampering her, spoiling her rotten like I always do when she's sick. Fuckity fuck fuck fuck!!!

But I hate being the bad guy. I can't risk my health right now. I have too much on my plate as it is. I've worked through deadline with the flu once before, and it is not for the faint of heart. I hope I never go through that miserable hell again. A beating would be preferable.
