Poll question: Does bright light make you sneeze?
For many years I thought I was a freak, the only person in the world who could force himself to sneeze by looking at a bright light. Then I found a friend who shared that weird personality trait and I was no longer alone.

Since then, I've come across several other "light-sensitive" people.

Are we freaks?

1. uh huh. When I'm driving toward the Sun.
it happens to my Mom, too, so maybe it's hereditary.

3. The reason I started this thread is because I sneezed 16 times in a row...
tonight. My all-time record is 17 times in a row, and I wondered if it was only me that did this.

2. Yep, especially after I eat something sweet.
So what is that, a sugar and light sensitivity?

4. Yes!
Definitely. Looking into the sun (like when I'm staring down the street to the west looking for the bus) can do it. Walking out into the bright sunlight after an afternoon movie will DEFINITELY do it, every time.

Glad this is more common than I thought.

9. No
Particles that go up my nose and trigger the sneeze sensors make me sneeze.

I do, however, limp when I'm walking in the dark. :eyes:

10. I used to go on break with this guy
Every day we would leave the building. The street we exited on was always shady, as there was another skyscraper across the street blocking the sun. As soon as we reached the corner we would emerge into the sunlight. He ALWAYS sneezed as soon as we came out of the shadow!

11. Yup, this happens to me, too.
Although it's usually only when I feel a sneeze coming on, that the light can actually trigger it. It's not like I go outside or am exposed to the sun and I suddenly start sneezing.

THAT could be annoying.

My son seems to have this condition as well, I've noticed. In fact, whenever he sneezes, from the light, it's always two quick sneezes, in succession. Never 1, never 3...ALWAYS just two quick sneezes. It's funny.

We've jokingly given him the Native American Indian name of "Two-Sneeze". ;)

12. ACHOO Syndrome
No, honestly:

ACHOO, a backronym for Autosomal dominant Compelling Helio-Ophthalmic Outburst.

And I have it quite badly. 3-4 sneezes every time I step into the sunshine.

If I can't it makes me.. I actually love this. I hate not being able to sneeze. Now I just look at a light bulb and kick some ass.
