Chicago sports has a powerful aura (or signal at least) |
|
for the first time in my life, I heard on a car radio, clear as a bell, ESPN Radio 1000 from Chicago...quite a range considering I'm in Virginia Beach, VA

I'm in Carbondale Illinois, a mere 350 miles south of Chi-Town, and I don't get a signal from them. Wish I did so I could get my sox games, but AM depends a lot on other factors like the weather, time of day, etc...

3. I can offer a small amount of insight, |
|
I am a pilot for fun, small planes when I can afford the rent/fuel...
anyway, there is a navigational instrument called an ADF which works much like an AM radio reciever, and when tuned properly can also pick up AM stations. While at 3-7000 feet, I have picked up stations from New Orleans, Minnesota, Phoenix, And once New York. The elevation makes for some long range transmission!!!
