|
Edited on Fri Oct-21-05 01:36 PM by pstokely
game can't be seen in areas like Wichita or Springfield, MO, not even for NFL Sunday Ticket Subscribers, the game is already going to affect high school football attendence in Kansas City area

6. I actually agree with the NFL on that one. |
|
The NFL has made a very concerted effort to support local high school and college football. They realize that the future of the NFL relies on the grassroots effort to build up a solid youth infrastructure. And they're right to do that on many different levels. Trust me - it's costing them more in revenue to not broadcast than game than the angst it's causing you in not being able to watch it on TV.

7. sure, off broadcast TV |
|
but people paid for the subscription on Sunday Ticket, they paid for Every NFL Game, many people outside the home TV region pay for a particlar team that doesn't make their local TV networks (they show the team of local interest first, in DC, that means the Ravens and the Redskins, no matter how bad they are.) they should get the game they paid for.

10. The NFL should not have scheduled the game for tonight |
|
it should have been moved to Kansas City, or Atlanta and played on Sunday

There's a reason every NFL team gets equal number of games at home and on the road. Which is why the Saints had every right to bitch after Tagliabue and Co. moved the season opener to New York. Not only that, but on Monday night. That forced a short week before a game AT Minnesota the following weekend.
The sports media did an incompetent job in not criticizing the league much more aggressively or thoroughly after that move. All 16 teams that play on the road on Monday night this year were given home games the following week. That is standard, with maybe one exception per year. But the league stuck the Saints on the road on Monday night, then road again the following Sunday on a short week. It made for an eas ybet for me taking the Vikings over the Saints, but that is a competitive imbalance, which is exactly what would happen if you moved the Dolphin/Chief game out of Miami.

If we can't watch it in Manhattan (KS), the world will end tonight!
On Edit: Phew! It'll be on WIBW, Topeka's CBS station! Anyone wanting to see it is invited to our house! BYOB, and I'll fix dinner!

13. It'll probably be the greatest game of the century complete with |
|
two hook and ladders on one play, an immaculate reception to end the first quarter, five kicks returned for a touchdown, with the game ending as the Miami Hurricane marching band storms the field just as the lights go out in Georgia.
No one will ever know who won because it wasn't televised.

14. Blame congress, not the NFL |
|
It amended antitrust laws in 1966 to prevent the broadcast of NFL games on Fridays or Saturdays if a high school or college game is being played within 75 miles of the broadcast station on the same day.
