Happy Friday and when was the last time you listened to it? I'm a little out-of-my-whatever right now, and love listening to Fat Man in the Bathtub at times like this :headbang:

Stopped buying the damn thing after the last time it got stolen/borrowed, around 1987. Can still hear the opening bars in my head though. Da da DA Da, da Da DA, somebody help me, da da DA Da.

Edited on Fri Oct-21-05 11:21 PM by hickman1937
Full House, Dark Side of the Moon, Yellow Brick Road, all stolen, and I kind of understood. But why did some fuckwad take Born to Run? Jackasses didn't even know who Bruce was. They were all about Fleetwood Mac. :nuke:
edit for disjointed ranting and leaving out words.

10. Was Badlands on that album?
Another one stolen. Time to start replacing some of this stuff. Lost Leo Kottke in the divorce, and stopped buying music. Too broke for too many years.

13. Not Badlands
I think the whole was planned as a concept album.

I love Leo Kottke's playing, can't quite get into his voice, which sounds to me a lot like Greg Brown. I'd be happy to some time burn you the 4-5 Kottke albums I have if you PM me w/info. :)

30. He's one of my all-time faves forever
I got hip to him from Rockpile days way back when. I had the experience of a lifetime when he played at Sweetwater in Mill Valley CA a few years ago. We were able to get in early because we sort-of-know Austin "Audie" DeLone, a longtime friend of Nick's who opened the show, then did a few encore tunes with him. Sweetwater is about the size of a McMansion "bedroom suite", and we had seats right in front of The Man, who did a stellar solo set, with many of the tunes from "The Convincer".

Audie came on for the encore, and they did "Half A Boy And Half A Man". Whatta groove!

If you get into Nick, one of his most fun CDs is "The Wilderness Years", a collection of weirdness and "we recorded this when we were really loaded so we don't remember very much" tunes. The Bay City Rollers songs, written in an attempt to write and record the world's worst song to get out of a shitty contract, actually were hits.

42. Nick Lowe on Trio today 10/23
Montreux Jazz Festival marathon today on Trio.

Montreux Jazz Festival 1995: Rock & More
Features performances by Van Morrison, Buckshot LeFonque, Nick Lowe & The Impossible Birds, Marc Tschanz and Marianne Faithfull.

9PM Eastern, also 6PM Eastern. I missed most of this morning's showing, I tuned in at the James Brown part at the end, which was definitely righteous, but missed Nick the Nife! I have my reminder set for 3PM Pacific.

27. Early Kool and the Gang was MUCH BETTER than that piece of
pop dreck. They re-invented themselves much like the blues band Fleetwod Mac into a pop mainstream band.

The early Kool was songs like Hollywood Swinger, Jungle Boogie, and Funky Stuff.

32. "Double Shot Of My Baby's Love"
by the Swingin' Medallions, of course!

Woke up this morning, my head was so bad
The worst hangover that I ever had
What happened to me last night
That girl of mine, she loved me so right
She loved me so long and she loved me so hard
I finally passed out in her front yard
It wasn't wine that I had too much of
It was a double shot of my baby's love

Double shot of my baby's love, yeah yeah, yeah
Double shot of my baby's love, yeah yeah, yeah
A potion that I had too much of
It was a double shot of my baby's love

It was such a thrill it was hurtin' me
I was sufferin' in ecstasy
She had me turnin' flips and-a shoutin' out loud
A sip of her love and I was walkin' on a cloud
One night a week is-a plenty enough
It's a good thing for me they don't bottle that stuff
Well, my heart begins to fly like a dove
When I take a double shot of my baby's love

Double shot of my baby's love, yeah yeah, yeah
Double shot of my baby's love, yeah yeah, yeah
A potion that I had too much of
It was a double shot of my baby's love

Double shot of my baby's love, yeah yeah, yeah
