Okay, I have f**king had it
with all those cheesy, fake computer sound f/x on tv shows, especially CSI. If my computer chirped and beeped the way their crime lab machines do, I'd personally take a sledge hammer and murder it on the spot. And it would be no crime.

I'm just sayin'.

1. KITT on Knight Rider made the same sounds as a Centipede arcade machine.
Remember? :)

2. Hollyweird has always made computers do things
they can't or shouldn't do. I was watching "The Net" the other night because I :loveya: Sandra Bullock, but the stuff the computers were doing in this 1995 film was ridiculous — web sites coming up almost instantly in an age of 14.4 kbps modems, sites visibly dissolving as if being eaten when infected with a virus, etc.

I don't like having my intelligence insulted. :grr:

3. "The Net" had Dennis Miller in it. That explains everything.

5. The Net was the worst
I turned it off (rental) because of all the fakery. Also, I couldn't wrap my head around a drop-dead gorgeous woman supposedly being a nerd.

6. Ms. Bullock plays the nerd role well
I guess it's because her particular type of devastating gorgeousness :loveya: is a bit bookish. Witness "Miss Congeniality," the movie by which I fell in love with her. Total geekette, complete with snort.

Sigh... :loveya:

8. The only computer hacker movie I have ever seen that was accurate
Was the Matrix. In the second movie they had Trinity hacking an installation and the screen had an actual tool hackers use up on it.

As an net security geek most movies that play with the net really drive me batty. Amazing interfaces, hacking made to look like a video game, its all bunk. And the king of all annoying computer things is when someone shoots a monitor the entire planet/installation/room blows up.

4. Airplane! had Atari 800 floppy drive sounds and ALL tv shows from '98+
use old music as the theme song rather than something original and worthwhile. :D

7. I hear ya.
I love it when any hacker is building a program/virus/worm and they have a lovely GUI to work with... the bit in Swordfish drives me crazy. Like he'd take the time/know how to program that kind of GUI? Who knows. And all countdowns come with automatic red-text giant clocks that take over the screen and/or give instructions. :eyes:
