Project/Object. They celebrate the music of Eff Zee --- Frank Zappa

They are playing at Martyrs, on the north side. The band includes 2 original Mothers, Napoleon Murphy Brock and Ike Willis. The show is replete with biting political commentary, ripping the administration big time. They do a great version of Wet Teeshirt contest featuring the imitated voice of Harriet Miers. The show is really funny and the music is great. A must see on my list...

The Mothers of Invention....

Often this name is shortened to "The Mothers" or just "Mothers"...

4. I'm not sure about how the name was carried along
There were so many incarnations of this band. I just know that when you say Zappa "The Mothers" comes to mind.

I saw Zappa several times, beginning in the early 80's. He was just incredible....

5. I never got to see him live, unfortunatly.
But I'm pals with Mike Keneally from the 1988 band (which happens to be my favorite), so that's pretty close. :) My goal is to collect recordings of every show from that tour. I think I'm about 75% of the way there.

6. Mike Keneally is an awesome guitarist.
You are fortunate to have him as a friend. I have always wanted to see him but have never managed it.

I only saw Zappa a few times, the best was at the UIC pavilion in Chicago. We had 20th row center but got displaced by the sound board. Zappa always had impeccable sound. At any rate being displace turned out to be a good thing. They moved us to 3rd row center. It was a really zany show. Lots of underwear flying around the stage... After he passed I managed to catch The Band From Utopia at a small venue called the Cubby Bear, kitty corner to Wrigley field. A very good show, but sad for sure.

8. The International Ampitheater
Went there a few times for American Indian PowWows but never saw a concert there.

Zappa and Cream.... What a lineup. You are lucky indeed!
