1. I hope I'm not going to a party.
How bad does that sound?

We went to a Halloween party last night. We had a great time and stayed out too late.

We've been invited to a birthday party tonight - an annual big bash for one of my husband's coworkers. If my 18-year-old daughter doesn't have plans tonight, she'll babysit the little ones. The problem is, I don't feel like going to a party two nights in a row.

6. I don't think it'll be an issue.
I really don't want to go to that party, so I can be here on the lookout for wandering Matcoms.

Two parties in two nights can be a bit much.

4. Playing at a wedding with my band.
We're about as much of a wedding band as, oh, let's say The Dead Kennedys (although we play a lot of funk, reggae and blues), but as long as there's money involved, I don't care. :)

Moral obligation: Have to attend relative's 45th Wedding Anniversary party.

Had to turn down invites to an excellent costume party, and a great big bon fire.

You could go to the Anniversary party dressed in your costume. What would you be going as (to the costume party)?

17. Costume...

Good idea! I do try to multi-task. Let's see... I could go in cammies and army boots as an "American Insurgent." Oh wait, I AM one, so that's not really a costume...

I got it! I could go as one of Flvegan's harem girls! Oh hell, to think of getting lost in a crowd like that, tho...

14. I saw them twice, they are awesome.
Once with Marilyn Manson and the Jim Rose Circus (it was before Marilyn hit it big and I was like WTF?? and took the opportunity to go to the bathroom, talk to other people...I still hate Marilyn, though!)...

Second time with David Bowie, the teenyboppers left when Bowie came on (uh....DUH) and missed Trent coming back out and singing a whole bunch of songs with David...

That was back in the day, though, when I actually had a life. Tonight I think I'm watching Crash on dvd, crying because I can't be in Shah Rukh's movie...that kind of thing.

Have fun though!

33. Still, while many covers are better than the originals
it's not original, and you can call Trent whiney, but he's certainly no Billy "I've got the queen of drama locked in my basement" Corgan :D

39. I like Corgan. Only about 20% of his stuff, but that 20% is pretty good--
I'm sorry for dissing NIN. I haven't really listened to enough of their stuff to be judgemental.

R: whiney, in general --nobody did angst & pain like Cobain, imo. Weird how Grohl morphed into Mister Upbeat when he founded the foos (Foos are my faves now.)

29. Seriously kicked ass.

The whole band was dead f'ing on. Reznor is one hell of a showman. The light show...fabulous. There were white screens of netting that surrounded them opening the show, that were raised into the second song. Then, in the middle, lowered again, and an anti-war, anti-bush video montage flashed over it while they played. Sadly, many folks didn't get it, cheering when Bush's ugly mug showed up. Whatever. The music was incredible. One of the loudest, yet clearest concerts I've heard in a looong time.

Both of my local papers did write ups on it:
http://tampatrib.com/floridametronews/MGBRTVLW4FE.html
and
http://www.sptimes.com/2005/10/23/Artsandentertainment/Crowd_gets_closer_wit.shtml

Of course, now I have to go break out The Downward Spiral again, and put it back in the ole playlist. The only song they didn't play, that I wish they had, was "Get Down Make Love" which I think was a "Sin" b-side.

32. Eh, Get down make love is one of their weaker songs
It's not even theirs. I think.

Still, I wish I could have seen it. And to argue in favor of the NIN crowd, I have a sneaking suspicion that the cheering that went on when Bush's face popped up was a cheering of "Oh fuck yea, Reznor's gonna kick the the shit out of that Bush fucker".
Of course, I could be wrong.

36. Weaker, yes
But would've been very cool live. They played everything else that I, personally, wanted to hear.

And I don't know. There were images of marching soldiers, bombings, piling of dead Iraqi, and there was cheering. I had 4 enlistment-ready young men the next row behind me, yammering about freedom and leadership. Of course, that was nicely balanced out by the guy two seats away that used the word "cocksucker" when the montage showed * dancing with his zombie-esque wife.

44. Oh well
You can't win them all. When I was enlisted in the Marines, loving NIN and hating the war went hand in hand.

Short story....

I was once transferred out of my unit to be a part of a different unit, when I came back to my original unit the first thing I did when I reported to work was play "Killing in the name of", by Rage Against the Machine on the shop's radio/cassette player.

Fuck You, I Won't Do What You Tell Me!
Fuck You, I Won't Do What You Tell Me!
Fuck You, I Won't Do What You Tell Me!

They actually listened, and didn't tell me to do anything - IT WAS GREAT!

37. If Queens of the Stone Age is still opening for him in NYC
do NOT skip the opening act. Not my favorite by a long shot, but they put on an excellent show, as well.

Also, moshing on the floor is encouraged by both QSA and NIN, so if you're General Admission, make sure your shoes are tied tightly. Heh heh...

41. i have heard the opening act. the lead singer tries to sound like
RObert Plant but they sound ok on CD. I am not a huge fan of Queens of the Stone Age to be honest but my sister who is going with me is. I have reserved seats so I will be spared any mosh pit. I have too many facial piercings that can be driven into my face to be hanging in mosh pits. I found this out at the last warped tour i attended in 2004 when i was up front for Bad Religion.
