Who here sells on Ebay?
And what do you find sells the best?

As of late, I have been making a lot of cash on cowgirl clothes...

Cruel Girl
Silver
Urgent Gear

I also find that sizes over 13 sell best...

2. I find people to be *very* close-lipped about what sells good....

even more so about *where/how* they get their stuff so they can sell it at a profit.

I'm convinced that half the people selling Louis Vuitton and all those Birkins, are thieves, LOL, thieves I say!

4. What I keep hearing is "find something cheap..." but...
WHERE, LOL? I mean, at the thrift store I might find one or two good things, but here even the thrift stores are getting wise and pricing things up.

Someone on one of the seller boards said to put your starting price at twice what you bought the item for, so that at the very least you will double your money. Good idea in theory, but...

I've heard of people buying stuff from the dollar store and pricing it up to three bucks, but how many trial size shampoos can you sell, LOL? No one's getting rich off that...

If I knew, I'd tell ya, LOL. Though, I did get in on the UGG craze--two years ago I bought a pair for my sis, wrong size, sold them for a bit over 300 bucks (bought them for 110).

5. I know a guy that sells on Ebay
went from unemployed to making a 6 figure income.
They sell action figures.
I don't know where he buys or anything...but he makes a ton.
They had to hire someone to handle their merchandise.

7. See, yeah--*where* does he get the stuff?
That's the magic question I guess, LOL.

Though, hmm. I looked at a few of his auctions, it seems like he's selling cards (among other things I guess) for 20 cents to a dollar. Which is pretty smart, because if he gets these cards by the pack (??) he probably only paid a few bucks for the pack.

I think sometimes it works to be willing to get your fortune in bitty pieces like that? So you've got to have patience I'd imagine, and that's something not everyone has.

Sigh.

8. I have another friend who is addicted to art supplies
literally.
She spends hours and hours scouring Ebay to find art supplies.
Even talks to some folks and gets them to sell to her outside of Ebay.
She befriends them, talks to them...but even though they give her killer deals, they will NOT divulge their sources.
Now...a couple of the ones she has befriended are in jail for theft...so at least we know where THEIR sources were, and it wouldn't surprise me if many many many sellers used theft as their source.
My next door neighbor several years ago was a route man for Borden.
I didn't buy milk, ice cream or juice for two years.
Every couple of days he would bring a case of something or other over.
I asked his wife how he could do that?
She said that he would go to the plant where he picked up his stuff and pay the dockhands a few bucks to put extra cases of stuff on when nobody was looking. Most of the time he would sell off the books to merchants (places like small mom and pop stores that didn't regularly use Borden's) and take home the rest.
I don't think this is at all uncommon.:(
