Mushroom outside my front door
I have never seen one like this.
It is a lot more yellow than the pics.

4. "Quite tasty"- not a smart comment
unless you can document with 100% accuracy that you know it's edible, you shouldn't tell anyone it's okay to eat ANY variety of 'shroom or toadstool. It could be a fatal mistake.

If it was a facetious comment, it would be best to indicate so.

12. There's no such thing as 100% accuracy
Experts get fooled all the time... and pay the price!

(Back in the '80's 2 mycology professors from Santa Cruz had to have emergency liver transplants after eating a BAD mushroom they picked in the woods... even "puffballs" can be deadly!)

18. There's a photography group
Here on DU. They have monthly contests. You can post an entry. I've already started looking into what species that might be. I've never seen anything like it. Very nice fungus. :thumbsup:

That's what I was about to post: Lepiota lutea. Supposedly it's very common, but I've never seen one before. The photos I found weren't half as beautiful as yours.

It looks like a "Lemon Yellow Lepiotia" It's poisonus. I looked it up in my Audubon field guild to Mushrooms. Google the name and see what you get.
