49. Well, he's an acquired taste. He was only an asshole to people
who had it coming. Smart-ass, smug, know-it-alls who tried to undermine his speaking engagements. He went to town on them. To everyone else, his fans, he was kind, funny, generous and down-to-Earth.

Because he's very bright, and while not perfect, was a good president, and is still doing good things.

I have met several famous people: Susan St. James, Jessica Lange, Bill Cosby, Jane Curtain, Gerald Ford, and -- my favorite -- Ginger Rogers, who *floated* across the floor and is one of the main reasons I grew up loving dance!

20. Did you hear Clooney on NPR the other day?
My husband met him and liked him-
I liked what I heard on his NPR interview, but then he
has been around the business long enough not to take it
seriously...he seems very down to earth, but like I said,
that is NOT usual as far as celebrity types.
I have met more assholes than a gay guy
in the height of the bath house craze in
SF...
I know you know what I am talking about.

28. Are you my doppleganger? I was in SF at the height of the bathhouse craze
too and DO know precisely of what you speak...

I made the mistake of going to MX last spring with a well known producer and her child on a family holiday. We were summarily ditched for some other people and the producer was running around in circles blasting blow in every available restroom.

We left early.

Nice person, nice enough, but even though there was a specific caliber of political values we had in common, she was a hypocrite after all was said and done, and just too narcissistic for our tastes.

I can't say I've ever been impressed with hollywood types. I've worked with em, dated em, been friends with em, and they're just as fucked up as everyone else, if not way more so, due to out of whack value and ethic systems.

72. I know what you are talking about, too...
The only other one I've heard that's incredibly nice to people was Ben Affleck, don't know if that's true or not.

Various people in my family worked in celebrity homes. While they (on most counts) were VERY kind toward my relatives, I've heard stories. But these are mostly what would be considered old school Hollywood. Different generation than those of today...

40. Carol Burnett - she helped to save my sanity.
I was in a mental hospital in 1986. I had a copy of her newly-released memoir One More Time and I watched re-run after re-run of her show. It was my escape from my unbelievable reality. I've always wanted to tell her, without starry-eyed vapidity, "thanks, thanks a whole lot. it is a joy to shake your hand." And leave it at that.

59. Me too, especially after that article he wrote for Rolling Stone
'Kerouac, Ginsberg, the Beats and Other Bastards who ruined my life' about what happened when his brother put Van Morrison's Astral Weeks on his turntable. I went through the same process of discovery, only mine was through a girl I fancied called Paula & Will Self's collection of essays Junk Mail. Plus I think he's one of the great actors of his generation & I'd like to ask him about working for Burton, Jarmusch, Polanski, John Waters, Wes Craven, etc. And then when I'm done, I'll pass him over to you for a snog!
