the dog is ill,and i'm ticked off.
i'm not ticked off at the dog,i'm ticked at my sister and nephew.
the dog suddenly took ill,not eating, accelerated heartrate etc. so we took her to the vet.
the vet said she might have an infection,or might be cancer.
antbiotics were prescribed, along with antacid,so she would eat.
my sister and nephew have given up on the dog (after 11 years of taking her for granted) and haven't even been TRYING to give the dog her medicine.
so i got ticked off.
my sister started blathering about how i shouldn't try to force the dog to take her meds, since they aren't working.
i said how do you know they aren't working if she doesn't take them?

3. You're a good dog uncle, yorgatron.
I hope she gets better. Maybe you should offer to adopt her. :grouphug:

4. Some dogs are hard to medicate
but it's too bad they won't even try. Tell your sister to try putting the meds in a hot dog piece. Three of my 4 will gulp down the first piece without ever noticing that there's a pill there. The 4th one gets his in cream cheese (Cipro, prednisone and thyroxine). And I never have to pry a mouth open.

Some other things that work well are regular american cheese, peanut butter, margarine, mixing the pills with cat food.

Good luck.
