For Halloween, we're having yet another potluck...but also, a costume contest and department-to-department trick-or-treating.

It's too bad this is Monday instead of Friday -- because, on Friday, I'm attending an open house at Marquette Law (I'm taking a half day) and I wouldn't have to bolt home and change from casual to business clothing. I could just go as "prospective law student" and be done with it.

2. ugh. I hate the forced cheerfulness of such events

The mere thought of concepts like "Pajama parties" at the office or "hawaii-shirt-day" sends shivers down my spine. About the only thing I can stomach is the "end of the year" gathering, but even that tends to be a torture.
