What scares you? What's your phobia?
In honor of Halloween, confess what really scares you. Snakes, spiders, rats, total darkness, drowning...
What's your personal phobia?
Even though I've been a scuba diver for 17 years, I have a reoccuring nightmare of drowning. I've never been afraid of water since I was taught to swim very young.
Yet this fear does keep poppping up in my dreams.
And I get anxious in movies when there are scenarios where people might be trapped underwater. Though I don't avoid watching these movies.
Weird.
What about you?

2. Spiders...........
Edited on Mon Oct-24-05 12:47 PM by WeRQ4U
My hands clench up, my butt muscles tighten up and I start to hyperventilate.

I also get really bad anxiety about getting a really serious illness. I was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes in law school, and I've had this fear that I'm falling apart ever since. I actually had to take Xanax for a while for crushing, breath-taking anxiety attacks. I hate medicine though, so I haven't taken it for a while.

3. Running out of air..
Claustrophobia is my big fear. I am not drawn to SCUBA diving for that very reason, or spelunking (cave exploring)... any place where I am closed in and can't breathe freaks me out.

My mother was in labor with me for almost 3 days and she says I was in the birth canal for 24 hrs....so I've often wondered if that experience has shaped my fears. It must've, on some level. Hmmm...

Anyway, that's me, for what it's worth.

16. Being raped by a very overweight woman
And being murdered, especially in a bathroom or parking garage. But especially the bathroom - I saw a movie once where some guys decided to beat the shit out of a guy for being gay, so they followed him into the bathroom and smashed his head into the faucets and the porcelain, and public bathrooms have kinda scared me ever since, since that would be an especially painful way to get beat up.

22. Damn. You just reminded me of another
phobia. I don't really mind snakes, though I don't seek them out. I have petted and pretended to like friends' pet snakes. But I do have a phobia about snakes falling into my canoe or raft during trips down rivers. This has never happened to me. But it scares me just the same. I once saw a large snake up on a branch during a camping trip and the idea of a snake falling from above freaks me out.

23. phobia?
nothing I know of.

Some degree of fear? spiders, heights, crowds

The closest I've ever had to a truly phobic reaction was a panic attack in a crowd once. I can handle crowds now because I'm aware of the problem, and just relax, go with it, don't let it get to me. (I've been in a crowd of 120,000 at a concert since - no panic)

I really don't like spiders or other arthropods, but I could, if necessary, actually pick them up...so I don't think that counts as a phobia.

Heights...possible phobia. I don't have panic attacks, but if I walk past an open staircase...it freaks me out...I end up hugging the far wall.

24. Driving and Republican controlled religion
My biggest challenge with pd is that i cannot drive, allthough i can still see my hands tremor and shake when am nervous and I dont want to get anywhere near the wheel. i dont want to kill anyone.
My second biggest fear is that the Gop will make it law barring democrats from practicing religion. Sorry once you been thrown out of one church it kinda sticks with you.
