I am buying an American Girl Doll for my little girl... |
|
1. Because she is finally old enough to play nice with a doll. 2. Because she is a great reader and I like that the dolls come with stories. 3. Because Girls Inc. supports women's issues which freaks out the freepers.....what a win win situation.
It is for her birthday and the doll and the books will be the only gift. She will have to wait for Christmas for additional gifts and I can make dresses for it.
She settled on Kaya the American Indian girl and I will place my order for it tonight while she is in bed.
The dolls are pricey but my neice had one and really loved the whole story thing that came with the dolls.

4. Ha! I did it, too. I bought one because the RW was boycotting. |

I bought 3 of the "girl power" wrist bands. And then I figured, why not go whole hog... and I bought the small doll. My grand-daughter is only 9 months old. So I'll give it at Christmas and then if her mom wants to continue collecting or if we do it for birthdays and holidays, then that's cool. The small dolls are replicas of the big, expensive ones. I figure the little ones could be decorations on her shelves.
But I really liked making a point about the dumb boycott. I hope.
OH....and the wrist bands are for my nieces... especially one for my Freeper brother's daughter.... muuuuuuaaaaaahhhhh.

5. If you're ever in NYC, you should bring her to the American Girl store |
|
They have a doll salon where they do both the doll's and little girl's hair. It sounds ridiculous, but the parents and kids coming out of there always look like they are having so much fun.

9. I took my daughter there for her birthday last year. It was fantastic... |
|
It was an amazing experience. When we were there, the salon was only doing dolls' hair, but it was amazing. We did the show and ate lunch in the restaurant. We had a great time.

She's had it since 1st grade--she's in 5th grade now and still plays with it constantly. You can get accessories & clothes for decent price on Ebay. Also, the fabric stores have tons of patterns to fit them. I've made many dressed with fabric remnants and patterns. Stay away from the Target brand clothes. They don't fit the American Girl Doll well and the shoes do not fit at all.
Also, I've found neat furniture and accessories at craft shows & flea markets.
