2. Get the latest issue of Harper's magazine
It has a long story about Jarhead and it's relation to Apocalypse Now.

3. It does look pretty good.
I always enjoy war movies although I don't really believe in war to solve problems between nations.

5. Looks like high potential to be good, but high suck potential too.
Not sure about Jamie Foxx as his NCO yet.

I like the "look" of the night desert warfare scenes with the burning oil wells etc.

7. Agreed--
I can't tell you how many times I've been suckered into seeing a film, based on a slick, ad campaign. Featuring a slick montage of edited sequences coupled with a cool soundtrack. Then I see the movie and I'm pissed that I fell for the hype.

I probably won't see this one, primarily because I tend to NOT like military or war films.

It was an absolute fluke that I enjoyed Platoon as much as I did. Then again, it was probably because it was more of a character driven piece than anything--and i enjoyed the story.

6. Yeah, it will be real interesting to see what they do with it...
I heard the author of the book speak about 2 weeks before the US
invaded Iraq two and a half years ago.
