4. We've lost a true American heroine.
I live about ten minutes from the site of the Highlander Folk School (which was sadly shut down and destroyed--what a loss to American history), where she and other civil rights activists honed their civil disobedience techniques.

10. I'm sure the freepers are rejoicing
How sad that she died - a true American hero she was.

Too bad she died during Fuckstick's adminstration - if we had a president who didn't base everything on hate and narcissism, she'd get the proper eulogy from this country she deserves.

19. I'm sure it will be just enough to make the "blackies" and LIEbruls happy
About her courage, and standing up for what she believes in, and ushering a new decade...all the while, he'll be "thinking" about how she was just uppity, should have minded her place, started an awful precedent in this country...

though truthfully, now that I think about it, that will be other republicans thinking that stuff. Fuckstick will be "thinking" stuff like, "I wonder if I'll have mashed potatoes tomorrow? Maybe Laura will give my a piggy-back ride later! That would be cool. Maybe chef will make me some mashed potatoes tonight! That would be super cool! I could eat them from a sippy cup while doing a piggy back ride!"

32. If you are interested--
in their 'thoughts' (I'm putting it as mildly as I can out of respect for Ms. Parks), someone brought them to our board.

The link is here...

Personally, I think even posting that crap on our board is disrespectful to Rosa and her memory...but that's just me.

40. She is getting a wonderful tribute on this morning's news stations
here in Detroit...A wonderful life. I'm sobbing for the loss, for the legacy, for all that she accomplished for humanity. Today is a day to rededicate ourselves to this fight. Right after Hurricane Katrina, I found myself wondering how that must have hurt her to watch.

21. I'm so sorry.
I feel sorry for our country to have lost someone so courageous. Her life was a reminder of a great spirit of activism and a time that too many people are willing to overlook. (as if the 1950s and 1960s were prehistoric).

As we lose Rosa Parks, I hope (most likely in vain) that her spirit doesn't fade in the Temptation Island mindset of America.

34. I agree--
I signed on to DU expecting to see something like this (what you posted) and instead the first post I saw was from GD--someone bringing comments from free republic--disturbing and disgusting...

So, I was happy to find your post and bump it back to the main page of the lounge--for those that didn't know yet.

42. Even though she lived a blessedly long life, it's still sad to lose her
She was a source of hope, inspiration and example for the civil rights movement. Her calm courage in the face of adversity and mindless prejudice will serve as a legacy for generations to come

Rest in peace Rosa Parks. And thank you for doing your part to make this world a much more tolerant and beautiful place.
