to eat TOFU tonight.

Veg Pad Thai, w/ lots and lots of tofu.

He liked it - but only ate about 2/3 of the tofu. Not used to it yet, he says. I put a lot in, so he did ingest a fair amount. Not one negative comment to be heard - although he did keep joking "where's the MEAT??!?" while I was cooking. :eyes:

I was impressed he was so willing to try something new with no bitching and moaning whatsoever.

Tomorrow I'll make sure and tell all his buddies.

Mmmmm... Pad Thai -n- Tofu

1. My advice:
Stop fucking him. Now, if every woman would follow this simple directive, he might catch a clue.

2. LOL!!
Ha haaa - Good thing I wasn't drinking anything when I read that!

Why? Because he ate tofu?

;)

3. Sorry, just being snarky
Although it's my standard line (to myself, as well) when I enounter a dude who makes me wonder, "Who fucks this guy, anyway?" There are many such dudes out there.

But I was being presumptuous about your guy, yes, because of his resistance to tofu.

4. No need to apologize!
It struck me as funny.

And he wasn't resistant to tofu - he was actually great about it. It's also the first time I've ever cooked for him - usually he's cooking for (and doing the dishes and clean up after) me. And he NEVER complains about trying to feed a vegetarian.

He's an amazing guy actually. Maybe not a Mr. Right, but CERTAINLY a damned fine Mr. Right Now.

:D

But you're right. There ARE many such dudes out there! It's why I was single + celibate for the 3+ years prior to this one.

5. Hey, I like tofu
When it's marinated, and I'm about the biggest carnivore around. I love trying new and exotic foods, too, so that helps..

7. I KNEW I liked you, enigmatic!
:hi:

Shit - even *I* didn't like tofu until I learned how the hell to cook with it. It took me YEARS to get over my first attempt during The Chili Incident (TM). I finally braved it again a number of years later, and now I love it.

Tip - when trying to make a HUGE pot of vegetarian chili, it's not really a good idea to cube a brick of semi-soft tofu straight from the packaging and dump it right in.

:puke:

9. That's what stopped me
I could never figiure the correct way to cook it; then I got clued in by a friend to marinate it for a day or 2 in whatever I liked, then saute' it. Man, that's good stuff...:)

8. Coming from a meat and potatoes guy...
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 01:50 AM by drhilarius
If he ate 2/3 of the tofu then (a)He really, really cares about you or (b) he liked it, he actually liked it, or (c) column a and b.

My gf, a diehard vegetarian, tried to turn me on to tofu, seitan, and tempeh. I could never get into it- the texture turned me off. So, we reached a compromise- veg. dinners sans tofu or tofu-like substances.

Although, if she had withheld sex then i would have eaten that shit by the fistfuls.

11. Since he's never been one to withhold his opinions -
and I don't think he could if he tried - I'd venture to guess he really did like it.

It does take some getting used to for someone that's never had it... that whole texture thing.

Sounds like you and the girlfriend have reached a very happy compromise!
