Okay so the IT department may be pretty clueless, but there are many good things about this place.
I just made an appointment to see my doctor because I think I may have an ear infection. Trouble is I don't have any vacation time left this year. I asked my boss and she said no problem, go and see your doctor. The appointment is at ten past 11 tomorrow morning so I said I would come in for 9 as normal and then leave again to make my appointment. She said, what's the point in that, you'd only have to leave at 10, just come in after your appointment is finished!
:wow: :woohoo:

I wish my boss was more like yours and not such a major tool.

2. Almost unbelievable, isn't it? |

I didn't know there were any businesses that liberal these days. Must be because it's 100% privately owned family company.

3. My company is the total opposite. |

It's not family-owned, it's understaffed, underpaid and overworked.

Styx or something. That sounds like normal sick-leave to me. Heck, I would take the whole day off if I had an ear infection. As Night Ranger is singing to me now 'you can still rock in America'

For I live in England. But here too it has become the norm for employers to try to squeeze every last drop out of their employees. To find one that treats its staff like people is quite a revelation.

You are excited that because your employer is giving you time off to actually see the doctor because you have an ear infection.
What a sick country.
Thank god I live in Germany.

I think its just sad that we have to bow down to our employers. My god that we would actually get sick and have to take care of ourselves.
My father still lives in the States and is 65 years old. He still works 60 hour weeks....I´m sorry but that is fucked up.

It's not quite as bad in Engand as it is in the States, although it is too close for comfort.
It makes my blood boil when I hear special interests like the CBI decry regulation and advocate labour flexibility. That's one of the most disgusting euphemisms of the modern day. Sounds good doesn't it, labour market flexibility. We have flexible labour markets, hurrah for us!
What it actually means is they'd have children working up chimneys and retrieving debris from working machinery if they could; and if a few thousand kids got maimed or killed a year then tough shit.
