NEW YORK -- She once had a secret marriage. But did Janet Jackson also have a secret child, too?

She did -- if you believe what a former in-law is telling a New York City radio station.

Young DeBarge said when his brother James was married to Jackson in 1984, their relationship produced a daughter -- and Jackson kept the secret hidden for years.

Young DeBarge told a New York City radio station last week the Jackson family kept things quiet about the baby, and that they "weren't very revealing" about what was going on.

Young DeBarge said the child, named Renee, is now 18 -- and is "a wonderful singer." He said the child has been living with Jackson's oldest sister, Rebbie.

It's the first time that someone has spoken on the record about Jackson being a mother. But the subject has been something that has been whispered about over the years among music fans and insiders.

The Associated Press placed a call to Jackson's representatives, seeking comment on the claim -- but there has been no response.

If the baby story is true, it wouldn't be the first time that Jackson has kept a big story about her personal life under wraps.

She secretly married Rene Elizondo Jr. in 1991 -- but the relationship wasn't made public until 1999 when they broke up.

Jackson is now dating music producer Jermaine Dupri.

10. Who the hell is Young Debarge and wat was the purpose

of the interview? I grew up listening to the group Debarge and El Debarge's solo work. I even have Chico Debarge's CD but I've never heard of Young and when I did a google check the only think I could find about him was this story. Honestly if I were to believe any celebrity could hide something like this for so long it would be Janet but even if this is true it seems like nothing more than pathetic cry for attention on Young Debarge's part.
