I was reading through Even Cowgirls get the Blues last night |
|
Specifically the part where the Whoopers go missing and the Secratary of the Interior is pondering what to do. The secratary is thinking about kicking it upstairs, but that means going to the president and he had troubles of his own right then, having been caught red handed with his hand in the cookie jar. The secratary could just imagine the president screaming "Shove those goddamn birds up your ass, what are you doing to protect me?"
It's been a few years since I read this, but it still makes me laugh out loud, 1974 mirrors today so well, you could substitute chimpy* for nixon and never skip a beat.
If you've never read it, do yourself a favor, Tom Robbins, Even Cowgirls get the Blues. he has many other books all good, and his style is similar to Vonnegut.
"Shove those goddamn indictments up your ass".

Loved Another Roadside Attraction - maybe because I have a twisted way of looking at religion anyway (my favorite Christmas movie is Monty Python's Life of Brian).
