5. I trust just about everyone
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 05:06 PM by jpgray
It really works out pretty well most of the time. So my answer would be "lies repeatedly," but ask me again in an hour and I'll figure that the person deserves another shot. If nobody trusts you, I think you are paradoxically even more inclined to lie and dissemble--sort of an "if they think it of me anyway, why not give it to them?" sort of thing.

10. Seriously?
I don't trust everyone but I do try to not distrust without a real reason. Botoxed lips are one. ;-)

11. I think honesty is more of a dialogue than an individual's choice
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 05:18 PM by jpgray
You can of course be dishonest with yourself, but most dishonesty involves another person. That person's reactions and judgments can affect your behavior--I believe a distrusting sort of attitude will elicit different behavior than a trusting attitude. There are certain sorts of people even a pathological liar will not dare lie to or is unable to lie to successfully, whereas another sort of person will trigger the most outrageous and irrational lies and duplicity from that pathological liar. That isn't to say I naively trust in people even when provided with evidence to the contrary, but I think starting out with a distrustful attitude is often a self-fulfilling prophecy.

edit: Also, fear of judgment is a chief cause of lies, in my view. Not placing yourself in judgment of another person too often, I think--in general--is a good idea.

8. I don't trust anyone whose forehead has more relief than
the grand canyon, (scale for scale) when they are trying to convince you of something... Condi.

Or someone who has an oil tanker named after them.... Condi.
