I'm playing with my
new old Yashica D TLR medium format camera, what a piece of hardware, no space age plastic there. You have to love those big ass negatives with like the equivalent of 22 megapixels.

3. Oops, sorry
it's an old-timey camera that uses a larger film. The images are very sharp and can be blown up pretty big without loosing sharpness.

Oh yeah I love old cameras, when I use them and everyone is popping away with digital I just sit back, compose my picture, check the light and push the shutter. You spend more time looking at a scene and I think that makes better pictures.

2. How medium format? Is it a 6 cm x 6 cm?
I love my all manual Segull 6x6. I only shoot square with it; I haven't used the rectangular thingy since I got it.

I love the pictures!!

I found this guy on Ebay, (that scares me) who was selling this old Yashica. Come to find out he lives 2 hours away so I was able to buy it today then drive over and meet him. He finds these old medium and large format cameras and completely restores them. They look almost brand new.

Last week I found this old pre war folder, a Wirgin. The lens was very clear so I took a couple of rolls with it. Are you developing your own stuff? I used to but an ex-wife took all my stuff. She didn't want my stuff, she just didn't want me having it.

5. Sweet! I'd love, someday, to get me a Hasselblad...
I'd also like to develop my own, which I haven't done since I was in the photo club in high school.

That Yashica looks nice!

6. Hasselblad is like
the God of all cameras. I was bidding on 3 different Rolleis but lost all 3. Ebay can get cutthroat, that was my first experience.

7. Do you
do much Ebaying? That stuff kind of scares me but there are some great looking medium format cameras. Knowing my luck the lenes were cleaned with 0000 steel wool.

Does your Seagull take filters?

8. I have not done any camera buying on ebay
but your posts inspired me to check it out, and now I'm watching four auctions...

So far as I know my Seagull does not take filters. Definitely the lens has no threads on which a filter could be screwed, though there might be lenses that are designed for it. But I doubt it.

It's the cheapest, all manual camera they have.

11. It's fun yet
frustrating, I used the buy now option to get mine. On the front of the lens your camera may have whats called bay 1, it's not threads but like a bayonet mount. I found a website that has alot of medium format info called photo.net, there is a guy there named Dean Williams who rebuilds Yashica's and they are as good as new, you can get one for like 100 bucks.

10. LOL
no, not yet, I looked at the Oct store schedule for both stores and they are only for about 4 days during the month. I probably won't get my film and stuff until Nov, which sucks because I live in the middle of nowhere.

I remember when I was younger I went to NYC and walked around those stores, it was like Disneyland to me. Now while we're on the subject go get me some discounts dammit. :)
