2. Groucho a modern Mark Twain
Rapier wit. An ascerbic view of the world. And absolutely fearless.

3. Harpo. He was the nicest, and also was in real life.
He loved children and adopted enough so that he could see a little face in every window of his house, waving to him as he left for work. And he was also very talented and funny, as well.:-)

6. I keep meaning to get his autobiography "Harpo Speaks!"
By all accounts it's one of the best accounts of 'the business' in that era as well as being very personally frank.

17. I'd probably love that, thanks!
I learned what I did about Harpo from reading George Burns' autobiography, "Gracie: A Love Story," which I really recommend. It's not only touching, but very funny! I always liked his humor...:D

And he and Gracie were, apparently, good friends with the Marxes. Both of George and Gracie's children were adopted and they got a phone call from the agency that placed the children, offering them a third baby. But Gracie had her children, so Harpo, who must have been visiting, immediately agreed to take this child. He must have had another window that needed a little face in it...:D

14. Harpo by all accounts was a wonderful guy
Also an animal lover. I think Groucho's son said that the only time he saw his father cry was when Harpo died.

especially if he loved children and animals...:-)

8. My head says Groucho, but my heart says Harpo.
Maybe because I've been reading his book.

11. I never forget a face, but in your case I'll be glad to make an exception.
more great Groucho quotes here:
http://www.geocities.com/serenadetxwords/quotes/groucho.html

some of the quotes:

I've had a wonderful time, but this wasn't it.

A man is only as old as the woman he feels.

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

While hunting in Africa, I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How an elephant got into my pajamas I'll never know.

I worked myself up from nothing to a state of extreme poverty.

I have nothing but confidence in you. And very little of that.

12. Groucho.
Some of my favorites:

"Remember, men, we're fighting for this woman's honor, which is probably more than she ever did."

"Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others."

"You're only as young as the woman you feel."

"I could dance with you until the cows come home. On second thought, I'd rather dance with the cows until you come home."

"Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read."

19. Hooray for Captain Spaulding!
"Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water. And east is east and west is west, and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce, they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know."
