17. HINT: Buy an OFFICE CHAIR for your dorm.
That way you can laze around and post on DU, like me!

Also, you will be the envy of your dorm, you can tell your friends how much they suck because they don't have a cool chair like yours, and you can wheel around everywhere and not have to get up for hours, which is actually a great workout for your legs! :D

Since Alabama's such a red state, how much work will you have to do to bring civilization to it?

We expect to hear much of your exploits, young grasshopper...

33. Ummm
it's much better than the rest of the state. I wouldn't call it "liberal" by any stretch though. It's pretty moderate, but I imagine most of the students voted for Bush. Probably around 55%-45% Bush to Kerry would be my guess.

39. My son is in the new dorm (Riverside)
It's nicer than any apartment I've ever lived in. He has 3 roommates, but each has a private room. They share 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room. Each room has cable TV and high speed internet.

45. Cool
I've heard that the new dorms are very nice. You know that they're building another dorm close to Riverside? I think this one is going to be called Lakeside.

And when you say "each room has cable TV and high speed internet", do you mean that each comes with those. As in, your son has it... and Roommate B... and Roommate C. If so, that sure is good news!

Roll Tide.

48. That's exactly what I mean!
EACH individual room has cable and high speed...plus there is a cable drop in the living room. The building is nicely set up as well....several conference rooms on each floor available for group projects, laundry on each floor as well.

I believe you're right - the "new" new dorms will be called Lakeside, and they are already under construction.

You've been to the Waysider? Wow, that's my favorite spot. I love going in there on Sunday mornings after big 'Bama victories the day before.

And yes, Dreamlands... "Ain't nothing like 'em. Nowhere."

49. "Ain't Nothing Like 'Em. Nowhere."
Not even, IMHO, at the "other" Dreamlands. To quote that line from "Highlander:" "There can be only one."

And gosh, yes, I *love* the Waysider. The melted butter for pancakes and waffles instead of pats of butter or margarine. Heaven.

Oh, and what's that cafeteria that is/was over near Bryant-Denny? I used to eat there once a day in grad school because it was (a) inexpensive and (b) Deeeeeelicious! The fried okra and the collard greens were the perfect dinner.

Once you hit 21, a daytrip down to Greenetrack for some dinner and dog racing is a heck of a hoot too. I hit the "trifecta" there once. What a night!

The Captsone's a mighty special place. And it will be better for having one more good, progressive, forward thinking student there.

Study hard. Play hard.

You sure do a lot about UA. That's a big plus ya know. ;)

About the cafeteria by Bryant-Denny-- I know there is a cafeteria in Mary Burke Hall, but that isn't really all that close to the stadium. You can't remember the name? You've got me stumped.

The dog tracks at Eutaw, lol. Never knew you were a gamblin' man.

59. Not only am I a proud son
of "Harvard on the Monongahela" (WVU), but also of the Capstone.

Trying the remember the name of the cafeteria is driving me nuts. I had an apartment on 13th Street, 2 blocks off University. The cafeteria was in the same general vicinity, in the general direction of Bryant-Denny. For some reason, I think the name started with a "P," but can't even get any closer by googling.

For the record, I'm generally not a gambling man. That was a five dollar bet that kept this poor grad student in tomato soup and velveeta for a couple of months.

61. A Mountaineer/Tider Eh?
No, I can't name the cafeteria by BDS. It's more than likely not there anymore or has a new use.

I know all about 13th Street though. Every game we beat the traffic by heading out on 13th instead of the congested McFarland Blvd before hitting Greensboro Ave to head south. 13th Street-- the street with no traffic lights. A big plus!

38. CONGRATS! My son is a freshman there!
He loves it there. I was worried how he would adapt being so far from home (I live in Tx), but he is thriving there. I've visited the campus 4 times, and am so impressed with how friendly everyone is.

Last month, I had the good fortune to fly the charter flight that took the Tide back to Tuscaloosa following their win over South Carolina. Met the coaching staff, most of the players and the athletic director. Even though my son isn't an athlete (he's there on an academic scholarship), they all wanted to know who he was and how he's doing.

You're going to love going to school there.

All the best and Roll Tide,

av8rdave

55. Prolly So
LSU's blitz scheme really scares me. UT sacked Brodie 5 times and roughed him up enough to where he will be wearing a knee brace (preventative measures) for the rest of the season. And that's not even touching on Dwayne Bowe, JaMarcus Russell, and Joseph Addai. LSU is stacked, no doubt.

Will you be coming to T-Town for the big game?
