WELCOME TO DU!
And biggo congratulations on your 100th post!
To a NoCal guy from a SoCal girl! How do you like Jerry Brown as your mayor?
I hear he's getting ready to run for Atty General......sounds good to me!
Good old Gov. Moonbeam we used to call him!
:woohoo: :woohoo:

I know the mayor, so I may be somewhat biased, but knowing such an, um, obstreperous character could actually bias a person either way...
As someone who's been in and out of town (living various other places but always coming back) since I was 15, I have to say I like Brown's Oakland. I just moved into a place downtown this month. There are bullet holes in my building but I haven't heard a shot (except for firing in the air, and that was across the freeway) since I moved in. Hookers work the street but they are polite and I haven't run into any aggressive people. I'm queasy in general about "law 'n order" but whatever the OPD have been doing in my neighborhood works for me.. so far. Meanwhile, there are a million new businesses popping up, including some funky bars and coffee houses and a lot of great places to eat, which I appreciate.
On the downside, I think he could do more for the homeless, and some of the eminent domain stuff is pretty spooky to me. But the net effect is visibly good, and (hate to say it) I feel good living in a place that has improved while the rest of the world seems to be going to hell.
When Ron Dellums takes over next year, I hope that he continues at least enough of Brown's legacy that the new stores don't all shut down and the people who shot up my apartment building don't come back!

The name Malta Blue sounds to me like an artist's pigment or a breed of cat. Both of which would probably be pretty.

I wonder if there is a pigment called malta blue. It does sound like there should be one, doesn't there. Good call!

I can't get past the idea of you being engaged to a large and highly intelligent dog, quite possibly an Airedale terrier. When he talks, which isn't that often, he speaks in ebonics.
