Seriously. I'm reading a book named "Lies my Teacher Told Me" and one of the main points it gets across is that if we whitewash away all of the stupid shit we've done to the point that nobody remembers, we won't learn.

1. I saw the Popeye cartoon "You're a sap Mister Jap"
not that long ago & it was quite an odd experience - one of my childhood favorites in a racist piece of propaganda.

It's really depressing that we're never going to get DVD releases (or even TV repeats) of so many original cartoons - particularly for me Tom & Jerry - instead we're left with the studios censored versions. Here's a good link if you're interested:

I also wish Disney would release 'Song of the South'. I know its problems, but I loved it as a child (especially, of course, 'Zippity-Doo-Dah') and would desperately like to see it again.

2. I remember late one night
on Cartoon Network (before they had Adult Swim), they had a program featuring propaganda cartoons from the WWII era. They had a disclaimer explaining that they were all propaganda and offensive to many people. I found it really interesting, especially comparing it to what I know of nazi propaganda from the same time period.
