5. And our dogs?
Mine make a beeline under the bed. Except my little one who tries to attack it.

3. There are professional models that operate at 58 decibels or less.
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 02:51 PM by eyesroll
(Normal conversation's around 50 decibels.)

They ain't cheap.

Edit: Typo. Normal conversation's 50 decibels; 70 would be closer to what you'd need to do in a loud bar.

4. 1912, House Bill HS241, the "anti-DS1 Vacuum Noise Non-Reduction Act"
Made it illegal, specifically for purposes for all generations succeeding your maternal grandfather, to reduce vacuum cleaner noise in perpetuity.

This law was re-addressed in 1967, and again in 1978, but both times was upheld by the vast majority of the house and the motion to suspend the law never even got so much as a "second" from another senator OR congressmen.

8. I like the loud ones
I clean up after parties and wedding receptions. Usually after the party there are a bunch of people who sit around yakking for hours. Instead of forcibly removing them or calling the cops I can just fire up the old vacuum cleaner and it becomes too hard to talk over all that roaring. I am vacuum, hear me roar!

11. It shouldn't require 1500 watts
However, that would explain why my UPS was screaming its fool head off after I clicked off my new cleaner- which had been running right next to 2 x 250W halogen lamps :D
