What is the "short man syndrome"??? |
|
Some women at work were talking about this and I didn't really realize there was such a thing.

supposedly have an obnoxious, chauvinistic, arrogant attitude to make-up for their short stature.
You know, I'm a 5'5" tall male, and I don't have this attitude at all.

7. Same as you here Fox, short no attitude. |

But I do know one dude who is our height, he also has tiny little hands :P (not that there is anything wrong with that, it's just something I noticed) but he is a lawyer, really agressive, and always seems to have a need to be in charge. I always got a kick out of being around him and seeing how he seemed to "over-compensate". My wife who works at the firm, says he does this stuff in the office alll the time.

Cocky, overconfident, massively inflated ego...compensation for basic feelings of masculine inadequacy due to diminutive stature.

My squadron commander in the air force was 5' 4". He got in before there was a height requirement. He was one of the nicest guys (and best pilots) I've ever known. His height didn't bother him a bit.
I have an "acquaintance" (not a friend) who is about the same size. He's the most obnoxious little prick I've ever been around. He has the fastest sports car, the biggest motorcycle, and constantly brags about his many, many achievements. In one way only, he is big. He's the biggest pain in the ass you've ever seen.
It's all in your head. If you have a healthy ego and a sense of self worth, size doesn't matter.

9. Hyper machoism due to lack of stature. |
|
This doesn't apply to all of my shorter brothers, but I have found that many many short men have a tendency to get into fights more often, drive these huuuuge trucks and SUVs, are overly aggressive, to the point of abusive, and pump out the machismo like there is no tommorrow.
I'm 6'5", and have been something of a target for these obnoxious people all of my life, especially in jr. high and high school. These little shits would just come up and take a swing, for no good reason. Annoying as hell. Now these folks take out their aggression in other ways, verbal, socially, etc., though from time to time somebody tries to pick a fight. Generally, I just laugh and walk away.
Like I said, this doesn't apply to all short guys, but I have found the trend to be truer than not.

he's about 5'6 maybe but he claims he's 5'9. On my wedding day i had to wear flats so i didn't tower over him while he was walking me down the aisle.
