Poll question: Define Yourself, Dammit! I dare you!
Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 10:38 PM by Whoa_Nelly
How do you define yourself? Or, is it less a definition of self, and more a day-to-day experience of Life?

For me, it more like this:

http://www.whatthebleep.com/create/

<snip>
"I wake up in the morning and I consciously create my day the way I want it to happen. Now sometimes, because my mind is examining all the things that I need to get done, it takes me a little bit to settle down and get to the point of where I'm actually intentionally creating my day. But here's the thing: When I create my day and out of nowhere little things happen that are so unexplainable, I know that they are the process or the result of my creation. And the more I do that, the more I build a neural net in my brain that I accept that that's possible. (This) gives me the power and the incentive to do it the next day. "

10. ...
We put thirty spokes together and call it a wheel;
But it is on the space where there is nothing that the
usefulness of the wheel depends.

We turn clay to make a vessel;
But it is on the space where there is nothing that the
usefulness of the vessel depends.

We pierce doors and windows to make a house;
and it is on these spaces where there is nothing that the
usefulness of the house depends.

Therefore just as we take advantage of what is, we should
recognize the usefulness of what is not.

16. From one of my my holy texts:
----------
Some excerpts from an interview with Malaclypse the Younger by THE GREATER METROPOLITAN YORBA LINDA HERALD-NEWS-SUN-TRIBUNE-JOURNAL-DISPATCH-POST AND SAN FRANCISCO DISCORDIAN SOCIETY CABAL BULLETIN AND INTERGALACTIC REPORT & POPE POOP.
GREATER POOP: Are you really serious or what?
MAL-2: Sometimes I take humor seriously. Sometimes I take seriousness humorously. Either way it is irrelevant.

GP: Maybe you are just crazy.
M2: Indeed! But do not reject these teaching as false because I am crazy. The reason that I am crazy is because they are true.

GP: Is Eris true?
M2: Everything is true.
GP: Even false things?
M2: Even false things are true.
GP: How can that be?
M2: I don't know man, I didn't do it.

GP: Why do you deal with so many negatives?
M2: To dissolve them.
GP: Will you develop that point?
M2: No.

6. To define creates boundaries...
and I'm way beyond that.

Besides, one can't define "self" as it's based in ego, and therefore, opinion. One's own opinion. To suggest that absolute definition was based in opinion...well, that's a whole 'nother issue.

See, to define your "self" is to offer opinion as definition, one which may not be able to be agreed upon nor refuted. So then what? Does opinion of one's "self" become definition, and therefore fact?

15. I create my day?
Well, I usually allow myself to wake up whenever I wake up. No alarms, and no deadlines. How could I consciously create my day the way I want it to happen? How can anybody? If you are "examining the things you need to get done" where does the 'need' come from? Who decides what I 'need' to get done? If I am not making those decisions then how am I creating my day? Yet I would 'need' alot more financial freedom in order to make those decisions.

Of course, today is my 2nd day off, so I do have freedom today, but even that is restricted by my work schedule. I have to shop and pay bills and do laundry and cut the grass, etc. today and yesterday because I do not have time for those on my work days. Of course, yesterday I planned to make cookies today, partly to help warm the house up.

Otherwise I cannot see how most people have the power to create their day.
