6. I really wanted Biggio to get one |
|
He's been with the team 18 years. I remember when he was a rookie. I wanted this SO badly for him and Bagwell.

I was pulling for the Stros (I despise the White Sox like Yankee fans despise the Red Sox).

I nearly fell over last night when Oswalt gave up five in the fifth inning.

He's in Chicago, training. He said he turned the TV off. He just couldn't watch the partying. When I got off the phone with him, I told him to curl up in the fetal position and go to sleep.

Guess where he'll be all day tomorrow....the airport. Wonder how many fans flew in for the game and are going to be leaving.

Not to over generalize, but there is an "in your face"-ness about Chicago fans. Don't get me wrong, I love the city, but some of the fans can be nearly as rabid as Packer fans.

They're allowed an in your face attitude, to a degree. I'm glad I'm not there.

The thing is, when the Twins won the division 3 years in a row, they were in our faces because they thought they had a "better team".

Well, I get pretty much in people's faces about my Astros...always have. Never hit anybody over it or anything, but, as my parents used to say, I will argue with a fence post.

|
Only joking, life long South Side Cub fan here, but I'm thrilled that the Sox won.
I never thought I'd live to see either Chicago team win a World Series, now I can die a happy woman.
Things are kinda crazy right now. Fireworks going off like the 4th of July, horns blaring.
Hell it's been 88 years, I think Sox/Chicago baseball fans deserve this!!!!

|
You must like pain!
My second favorite team is the Cubs. (not because of the "loveable loser " image either.) I love Wrigley Field, I consider my trips there to be "pilgrimmages".

26. Long story as to why I'm an aberration, but |
|
suffice it to say, my mother, born and raised on the South Side, and please refer to it that way, was a Cub fan as well.
Back in the 60's, Mom would take me and my brother Tom, who BTW was a Yankee fan, where that came from we never figured out, up to Wrigley on Fridays during summer vacation for Ladies Day. She would always get us seats behind the Cubs dugout and I grew up watching some of the greatest baseball players that ever played the game, beat the living shit out of the Cubs.
But then came the infamous 1969 season and I fell for the mystique that are and still continue to be the Chicago Cubs. I've lived and died through all the years my beloved Cubs came so close, but tonight is about the fact that a Chicago team, with all the bad karma and curses, etc have finally after 88 years won a World Series.
I love my Cubs and always will, but I love the City of Chicago more and if out-of-towners have a problem with our attitude, too bad!!!

I am glad you are happy.
I just have a problem with the Wox fans I have encountered that were downright nasty over envy of the Twins' previous three seasons.

PLUS, that and the election all came at the same time. That was a SHITTY couple of weeks.
It'll hurt for a few days, but it'll be spring training before you know it. :)

I'm ready, that's for sure. Who might not be ready though? Clemens. If his hamstring is acting up too badly, he may decide to retire for good this time. Biggio has signed on for one more year, so at least he'll get another shot.

I was rooting for you, sorry your team didn't win a game, but at leats you made it to the dance, revel in that, the Astro'sa re the NL Pennant winners...remember that. I'm an Mariners fan, my team has never made it to the world series, take it in stride...there is always next year, no one gave them a chance this year, and look how far they made it...:)

It was the closest sweep in history, however. Every game was a gem.
Carry your pain with pride. The Astros play the game the right way!

I can only imagine.
As a life-long Brewers fan who watched the B-Crew blow a 3 games to 2 lead to the Cardinals back in '82, I can only say that our somedays have to come someday!
Salud!
