Yup, it's official, I can't get this song out of my head....
I woke up out of a deep sleep just so I could play this a few times. Now that is hardcore.

"Sundown" by Gordon Lightfoot

I can see her lyin’ back in her satin dress
In a room where ya do what ya don’t confess
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you been creepin’ ’round my back stairs
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you been creepin’ ’round my back stairs
She’s been lookin’ like a queen in a sailor’s dream
And she don’t always say what she really means
Sometimes I think it’s a shame
When I get feelin’ better when I’m feelin’ no pain
Sometimes I think it’s a shame
When I get feelin’ better when I’m feelin’ no pain

I can picture every move that a man could make
Getting lost in her lovin’ is your first mistake
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you been creepin’ ’round my back stairs
Sometimes I think it’s a sin
When I feel like I’m winnin’ when I’m losin again

I can see her lookin’ fast in her faded jeans
She’s a hard lovin’ woman, got me feelin’ mean
Sometimes I think it’s a shame
When I get feelin’ better when I’m feelin’ no pain
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you been creepin’ ’round my back stairs
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you been creepin’ ’round my back stairs
Sometimes I think it’s a sin
When I feel like I’m winnin’ when I’m losin’ again

6. perfect way to describe him
he is such an icon. If you were to think of all the stuff that makes Canada such a cool place you just might have to put Gordon Lightfoot in the top 5.

9. He's one of them for sure
Ian Tyson, too; a real, honest-to-goodness cowboy who wrote the unoffical Alberta Anthem, "Four Strong Winds":

Four strong winds that blow slowly
Seven seas that run high
All these things that don’t change come what may
Now our good times are all gone
And I’m bound for moving on
I’ll look for you if I’m ever back this way

Guess I’ll go out to alberta
Weather’s good there in the fall
Got some friends that I can go to workin’ for
Still I wish you’d change your mind
If I asked you one more time
But we’ve been thru that a hundred times or more

Four strong winds that blow lonely
Seven seas that run high
All these things that don’t change come what may
Now our good times are all gone
And I’m bound for movin’ on
I’ll look for you if I’m ever back this way

If I get there before the snow flies
And if things are going good
You could meet me if I send you down the fare
But by then it would be winter
Nothing much for you to do
And the wind sure blows cold way out there

Four strong winds that blow slowly
Seven seas that run high
All these things that don’t change come what may
Now our good times are all gone
And I’m bound for movin’ on

I’ll look for you if I’m ever back this way
Yes, I’ll look for you if I’m ever back this way..

11. Hey Enigmatic! Thought of you today as I listened to "Mavericks."
Your playlist from the other night inspired me.

For sure one of the most underrated albums, ever. The voices, songs, playing...amazing.

13. Hey bro!
God, what an inspired record; in a just world both "She Was The One" and "Angels" would have been mega-hits, and Peter and Chris would have been much more than the cult figures they are today....

18. no, never even talked to either...
dude, they both look like pornstars. A brunette and a blonde. Every once in a while I see them in lecture, they both sit by each other so I assume they are pretty good friends. I never go to my friday class, they are both in that too. One of them, the brunette, she has this smoky voice, she sounds as if she just took a shot of whiskey and smoked a cigarette, it's actually pretty sexy. As of now, I keep my distance though. Biding my time. (actually, I'm pretty much a chickenshit) :)

20. you know what they say...
Well, I can't remember what they say, but give it a shot; who knows, you may get some serious interest from them. And when you introduce yourself, make sure you end with:

Miiissttterrrrr Weeettttzzzeeelll........

Weeetttzzzeeell..........

:)

22. you know, on Fridays, I constantly yell Miissssteeerrrrrr Keeennneeddyyy..
............

Kennneeeedddyyyy

when I'm watching Smackdown. I do it loud too. I bet my neighbors nearly call the cops. They have to think I'm crazy.

Yeah hell, I'll get around to talking to at least one of them one of these days anyway. My track record isn't all that good lately. There is this adorable little devil in my Health Care class that I talk to every once in a while, she's really beautiful, about 5 foot, amazing body... everything. Except I've seen her pick her nose in class at least 2 or 3 times. No shit! I just can't get that out of my head! She probably wonders why I don't talk to her much anymore. She's stunning too. I sure know how to pick 'em. Well, picking is actually her thing, but you get what I mean. :)

12. First concert I ever went to was Ian Tyson in Lethbridge!
I was pretty young, maybe ten or so, my parents would always take us up to Lethbridge for vacation and one time we went to a rodeo up there and before the rodeo - or maybe after it's been so long - they held an Ian Tyson concert. I had no clue who he was, but my parents had heard of him. I actually really liked his music though. He seems like a truly genuine guy. The other Canadian country singer I always liked quite a bit was Charlie Major. Not many in the States really heard of him, but I recall circa '96 Charlie Major was the shit in Canada. I watched the Canadian Country Music Awards on CBC that year and he wiped the floor with everybody.

As far as Canadian icons go my top five are Gordon Lightfoot, Bret Hart, Randy Ferbey, insert any Wildman Canadian Bareback Rider such as Robin Burwash, and Enigmatic. Pure icons all around

19. my mom loved Charlie Major, wore his tape out.....
The Other Side. I remember that song, it used to give me chills, "Baby, look at me..... I've got a hungry heart." Some seriously poignant lyrics for a song of that tempo.

Hell yeah, you're an icon. Especially after you become the Mick Foley of Alberta curling. Nothing will top that.

24. It's a great earworm
Gordon and his songs take me back to better times; when I was a kid and my only responsibility was what I would build that day with either Girder and Panel sets or Legos.

I love "Carefree Highway" as well as this song.

Now I need to look into getting his GH albums. Thanks.
