Ah well....congratulations to the White Sox.
You guys definitely had the better team. You steamrolled everyone on the way to the title. I've been to Chicago. It's a hell of a nice town. I'm sad for my Strosies, but I'm happy that you guys took home the hardware. Hopefully we'll see ya again next year.

2. haven't you heard?
the script calls for a 'subway series' between the MLB World Champion Chicago White Sox and the chicago cubs.

5. Thanks, bertha.
I wish that we could have made a better Series showing, but I'm not sure that anyone would have been a match for the Sox this year. They had the mojo working for them all through the playoffs. Talk about peaking at the right time.

And I'm definitely glad that we made the Dance. My guys did me proud by getting there for once.

3. Hopefully you WON'T see them next year
As someone at my gym said when he saw me watching the game, wearing my Phillies shirt: "That should have been us up there losing to the Sox!"

Hey, at least you got the dance this year. We Phils had to sit this one out...

4. And I wanted the Twins to be in it against the Cardinals
We had the pitching, just no run support.

7. You guys were in it all the way, though.
It was a tough Wild Card race. You have some off-season retooling to do though, just like the 'Stros do. We'll see what kind of moves your GM makes to shore up your staff.

9. Our NEW manager, by the way (oo, that has a nice ring to it)
Hoping our new GM makes some good decisions.

You guys got there fair and square, this was just the White Sox's year.

It looks like we'll see you in Florida in March, and then not again until September.

8. Isn't that always the way!
By the way I rooted for the Phillies in the 1993 (?) series.

10. And I root for the Twins to stay where the hell they belong
Got a little nervous there a while back.

I travel for work, and sometimes get to choose the cities. I try for Minneapolis whenever I can (if it's not winter) - nicest people in America, great shopping (and tall sizes aren't quite so hard to find up there in the land of Nordics), and the most beautiful June weather of anywhere in the US.

True story: my first trip to Minneapolis was one of my first trips away from Philadelphia (I was right out of college). The hotdog vendor offered me condiments, and asked if I needed some extra napkins. I asked the guy I was with "what did that guy WANT?"
I was used to surly Philadelphia vendors, not pleasant Midwestern ones, and figured this guy was up to something!!!!

12. We may still lose the team
Since Pohlad is trying to strong arm the taxpayers into buying him a stadium.

They plan on revisiting contraction in 2006.

16. Contraction my ass - it's a BFEE plot to steal the team for Texas
Send them to San Antonio or Midland or something
:tinfoilhat:

Seriously - I really do hope they stay right where they are. Minneapolis and St. Paul are Major League Cities and deserve a Major League Team!

19. I totally agree
And, the Twins are the only pro team that have brought a National Championship here.

They won the pennant in 1965 but lost to the Dodgers in the Series.

Obviously they won both the AL pennant and the World Series in 1987 and 1991!

15. Why didn't the Rangers hire him?
He was apparently interested in that job.

17. Don't Know. Gerry and I went to school together.
My room mate was the 1st baseman on the college team,Gerry played 2nd; he was around all the time.

He's a Philly guy, born and raised, and the Philly media are scratching their heads:wtf: this seems like a "slam dunk"

But then again..they hired Charlie Manual instead of Jim Leyland

18. Well, I'll tell ya, Hunsicker would be great for you.
I'm really sorry that he and Drayton McLaine couldn't see eye-to-eye. Hunsicker has a great head on his shoulders. I was hoping that he would land somewhere in the AL where he couldn't hurt us so much, but I'll be glad to see him get a good gig.

13. How long til they fire Garner?
After his game 3 comments, there is NO WAY I would want him coaching my team.

14. Garner is safe for a while, I bet.
He's the guy who broke through to get them to the Series. No other Astros manager had gotten that far. Dierker was the most successful Astros skipper to that point.

Game 3 comments aside, the players generally like Garner. My guess is that he's good as gold for a while.
