I saw this after their Game 1 win. Someone walked up behind Guillen, tapped him on the shoulder, and they clearly kissed on the lips.

You can say what you want but I don't even buy into the whole HUGS thing between men. Sorry I grew up with hand shakes or better yet the suburban raise chin 'SUP? acknowledgement.

Is this a Latino thing that I was not aware of?
Is it a Venezuelan thing that I was not aware of?

Anyone? Anything?

my experience is not the final word on what Latinos do. We have many different national backgrounds and customs. And we DO tend to be more demonstrative than Caucasians. That being said, I would be pretty surprised if this were a custom in some Latin American country.

it just hit me. I was thinking that maybe the younger guy was his nephew or something (son should have come to mind first) and your post triggered by beartrap like mind.

A couple of years ago at a SKins game or something Ray Floyd's son was caddying for him and they kissed on the mouth at the end of the round. I thought it was odd so I asked some friends if they kissed their father's on the mouth...they all said no. Apparently (and I don't mean anything by this at all) that is done in some families..some parts of our society.

I just didn't grow up around anyone who did that.

I guess Harold Baines needs to help some with what he sayd in his heavily accented english. There are 8 Latino players on the active roster so the Guillens translate for them alot in press interviews. There is also alot of interest from the Latino press so they translate interviews with english speaking players into spanish.
