If I had to choose, I would rather have................
understanding than respect.

You? What would you rather have?

1. If you aren't understood, how could you really be respected?
People would be respecting the false image they have, instead.

2. Good question

For a long time, I would have said respect. I've lived my life on a very strait, "good" path for a long time, but lately I'm leaning more towards understanding. I think we all need validation, but we have to figure it out if we want it more from society or from the people who we can mutually care for on a smaller level. Good question.

3. Respect
but I'm coming at this from a musical perspective. I'd much rather be the misunderstood, but highly respected uber-influential musical genius than the rich shallow completely understood pop star who never gets any artistic respect from anybody.
