1. lol Schlitzmas for us is everytime we go camping |
|
for some reason, my friends and I never drink anything but Schlitz when we go camping....and we never drink Schlitz any other time. Kind of like a tradition.
a funny thing about Schlitz..... they had a Ingredients label on the side of the can that said: "Ingredients: Beer" We got a kick out of that. I dunno if they still say that.

4. Schlitz still exists?? |
|
I didn't know that. Where is it sold?
I used to take the Schlitz brewery tour in Milwaukee long ago (long since closed. The brewery. Not Milwaukee). I liked it because at the end of the tour, you could sit in the Rathskeller themed Schlitz pub and drink all the beer you wanted. Other Milwaukee brewery tours limited you to a glass or two. This was obviously before the days of MADD....
PS - The ad in the OP must be at least 30 years old.... you can tell by the can's pull-off tab. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

5. you can still get 12 packs here in HEB or Albertsons |
|
i like the pull-off tabs for some reason. one time about 10 years ago my friend and I found a 6 pack of Miller High Life unopened in his grandma's cabinet. We chilled it and drank it, it tasted ok. The six pack was so old it had the pull tabs....we found out later it was bought in 1978. LOL

7. The pub was called "The Brown Bottle"....I loved that place, although |
|
at the time I could only drink cherry soda. My dad worked in distribution for Schlitz. It was bought by Stroh's in 1982 and then all of the labels were sold to Miller. I don't know what happened from there....My father lost his job (thanks Reaganomics!) in 89.

6. Every damned day...at least when I was a kid. My father worked there |
|
for 30 years, as director of distribution. Funny thing, they had the best BEST Christmas parties for kids. A ride all you want carousel, all you can eat McDonald's ( a buffet for parents/employees) and the Macy's Santa Claus. AND we each got one of those red net (huge, but probably not as big as I remember) stockings with boxes of lemon heads and good n plentys...mmmmmmMMMMMMMmmmm Schlitz Christmas parties....
