Positive thoughts needed here, folks
Edited on Thu Oct-27-05 12:44 PM by SoCalDem
My daughter in law just called me in tears.. Our son had kidney stone surgery on Tuesday, and was supposed to have been released today.. He started bleeding internally this am and they had to take him back to surgery.. She's a real basket case, as are we..

He's our son who has had so many surgeries as a young boy (a birth defect involving his urinary system), so to him (and to us) surgery is not necessarily all that scary having been through it almost 30 times, but it's his first in many years, and the first time she has had to go through the hospital trauma.. (the one where Murphy's Law rears its ugly head )..

I suggested coming up for his surgery, and he said "absolutely not!"..but now I am having second thoughts.. She's supposed to call back in a few hours to give us an update...

We are trying to hold a positive attitude, but I may need to go there to calm her down..

10. I think I'll recite the Mi she Berach A prayer for healing.
the words are below

Mi she berach avoteinu,
M'kor hab'racha l'imoteinu

May the source of strength, Who blessed the ones before us
Help us find the courage to make our lives a blessing
And let us say: Amen.

Mi she berach imoteinu,
M'kor hab'racha l'avoteinu
r'fuah sh'leima

Bless those in need of healing with r'fuah sh'leima
The renewal of body, the renewal of spirit,
And let us say: Amen.

12. UPDATE,, he's out of surgery and it went well
Apparently they had tried to remove a drainage tube, and when they did, blood started pouring out..so off they went..

leslie said he was in some pain, and was still in ICU.. So instead of going home in a few hours, he's stuck there for a few more days:(..

The only thing that bothers me is that his surgeries when he was a kid were done at Mayo Clinic, and I do not have all that much faith in HMO doctors:(...

but he's doing ok, so that's what matters..

the vibes helped.. thanks..

We may head up there when my husband gets home..

16. That So Sucks
Had the same thing in May, so not only do you have my good wishes you have my left kidney twitching in sympathy. I'm sure he'll be just fine. Make sure he gets lots of drugs - those stents HURT.
