"Er, um Ms. XXX, can I sharpen my pencil?"
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that question today...

Betcha I could pay off my student loans

1. It's a reason to get up! I remember those days.
Can I go to the bathroom? Can I get a drink of water? Can I sharpen my pencil?

They think they are sneaky!!

5. those three questions...a trifecta!!
I was subbing for a 6th grade reading class today. I had forgotten how desperate kids could be trying to figure out how to get out of doing any work.

6. If you ever have something good, DON'T show it to Mrs. Brogan!

7. I wish my 6th grader would sharpen her pencils!
She writes with those things until she actually can't anymore and wouldn't even think of sharpening it unless I mentioned it. Her handwriting is barely legible as it is and this doesn't help.

Of course, if she decided to sharpen her pencil, she's such a flake that she'd probably get lost on the way to the sharpener and not make it back to class for 20 minutes. Maybe I should be happy the way things are.

9. Have you tried having the kids get up and stretch once or twice a day?
They get their wiggles out, and sometimes it throws them off just a little, lol.
