HYPOTHESIS:

It will take less licks for guys to get to the Tootsie Roll Center of Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pops than it will for girls.

Here's the data we've collected so far.



Boys

Boy #1: 1356 licks and 1304 licks.
Boy #2: 897 licks and 914 licks.
Boy #3: 764 licks and 887 licks.
Boy #4: 1891 licks and 1887 licks.
Boy #5: 1233 licks and 1259 licks.


Girls

Girl #1: 1523 licks and 1684 licks.
Girl #2: 1828 licks and 1807 licks.
Girl #3: 1625 licks and 2563 licks.
Girl #4: 1513 licks. Girl #5: 1613 licks.

Conclusion

Our data leads us to conclude that our hypothesis was correct. The mean for the male subjects' data was 1239. The mean for the female subjects' data was 1656. The difference between the two was 417 licks. It is a signifigant difference. Yes, boys do take less licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop.

Since the pops are not uniform in how much candy coating is over the tootsie roll center at any given point, it is impossible to come to a firm conclusion as to the exact number of licks. In addition, most people SUCK (don't they, though?) ... whoops, what I mean is, most people suck their pops and so are not using individual licks making the question both moot and irrelevant.

Actually, I think "moot" pretty much means "irrelevant" but I like both words and couldn't pick which to use.

"Moot" is more fun to say, though.

11. I actually tried it when I was in 7th grade.

I tried it with three Tootsie Pops and it took between 298 and 307.

Of course I guess it depends on the acidity of you saliva and the roughness and surface area of your tongue.
