7. OMG how could I forget Karen Carpenter.
I saw her in concert, she sat on a stool and just belted it out, with no effort.

9. Hers was a pure gift
No one can be taught to sing the way she did. You either can or you can't. The melancholy was genuine from what I've read of her life.

Jim Morrison, Bono, Howling Wolf, Tom Jones, and many more than I can't think of in my brain-dead condition.

As for singers who can/could sing, it's hard to know where to stop. Elvis, Patsy Cline, Billy Holiday, Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin, Kristi McClave from Hope 7 (new one I love,) those singers I listed in my "underrated singers (vocally)" board, Sarah McLachlan, Michelle Branch, Natalie Maines, Patty Loveless, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Simon And Garfunkel, Brian Wilson (especially in the past,) Janis Joplin, Brice Springsteen, Bono, etc.

29. I've heard him sing the following lyrics live at least three times:
"...read me like a book
that's fallen down between your knees
please
let me have my way with you..."

And I turned to mush every single time. His voice....mmmm...

*grace goes off to her happy place*

37. I wanted to name John as well.
However I'm such a fan and he was so (pardon the pun) instrumental in my life with his views on the environment, love, and peace that I can't be objective. The first concert I ever went to was his. I became a National Park Ranger because of his influence on me as a young person. I wish I could have told him in person, but alas it was not meant to be.
