The furnace man is never going to come, is he? |
|
Well, technically, the boiler man.
The boiler in this house is original to its construction (c. 1920). It was, at some point, retrofit for natural gas. It originally burned coal. Recently, my landlord's insurance company told him to replace it, and any pipes associated with it, and all of the electrical (to be subcontracted by the heating company) or else this place is uninsurable and thus unrefinance-able.
So, I am waiting for the boiler man to show up so I can let him in to write an estimate. He told me between 4 and 4:30. It is now 4:45. At 5 I call.
My landlord takes $25 a month off my rent for me to handle this sort of crap, and most months, I don't actually do anything. So it's a good deal. Still. It's nice out and I'm stuck here.
Grr.

6. Yeah, my old one died at 3 am on a 0 degree night. |
|
This one's still, scarily, working, but it's costing me an obscene amount of money to heat my place.
