5. I agree!
This one is on my ten all-time greatest movies ever made list, up there with Citizen Kane and Lawrence of Arabia and Ran.

7. Yep. It really doesn't come across as dated, even in special effects,
Edited on Thu Oct-27-05 10:46 PM by Rabrrrrrr
but especially the story is so timeless: paranoia, fear, mistrust, loss of identity, severe isolation (physically, emotionally, and mentally). It's very greek!

And thus, very timeless.

9. It's also one of the best literary adaptations I've ever seen
they really captured John W. Campbell's "Who Goes There?" much more so than Howard Hawks did with "The Thing from another World" with James Arness also based on "Who Goes There?"

10. Entire worldwide human population infected in 27,000 hours
that's 3.08 years, by the way.

Gods, what a perfect movie.

11. Not gonna get an argument from me on that one
Its the movie that woke me up to Carpenter. He really knows how to make a movie that draws you into its mythology. They all seem start off normal but then they ease you into this amazing world. Practically seamless.

12. Yes, they bring you in seemlessly, and then, at the end,
you realize that you've been totally fucked with, because even the ending you expected wasn't as mindfuckingly perfect as Carpenter's.

14. That movie scared the pee out of me!
I don't know why but it took me about 3 tries to get through it. That damned spider thing with the upside down head just freaked me right out.

Hey Rabrrrrrr! How are you doing? I love Nightmare Before Christmas, just really fun to watch. Doesn't the Oogie Boogie Man remind you of Cheney?

I've been out of the lounge for so long, missed you all.
