Anyone ever see the movie 'Frailty' ?? |
|
OMFG !!! :scared: Here is the Amazon review:
Editorial Reviews
"Steeped in gloomy atmosphere, Frailty locates its horror in the tyranny of religious fanaticism. Making an assured directorial debut, actor Bill Paxton costars as a Texas widower who believes God has recruited him to destroy demons in human form. Feeling divinely justified in committing a series of ax murders (discreetly unseen), he urges his two young sons to assist him in the killings--a living nightmare recalled in flashback by one of the now-adult sons (Matthew McConaughey) to the FBI agent (Powers Boothe) who's investigating the murders. But mystery is of secondary importance in Brent Hanley's cleverly twisting screenplay; Frailty suggests, with unsettling subtlety, that Paxton's mission may not be delusional, thus burdening his deadly wrath with spiritually disturbing significance. It's definitely not a feel-good film, but with celebrity endorsements by Stephen King and directors James Cameron and Sam Raimi (who both made films with Paxton), Frailty gets under the skin with insidious efficiency."
It's a fundie slasher film. Doing God's work dontcha' know ? This sumbitch is gonna give me nightmares - not for the gore - but because I just know some whackjobs are gonna be watching this at their Weekly Left Behind meeting and take it as a 'sign' to start killing people because 'God told them' to.

Just the name of the movie gives me the creeps. That one bothered me for quite a long time. Um, I think I just heard something move in the dark behind me. Gee thanks! ;)

6. The absolute certainty of the father creeped me out most ... |
|
... reminds me of whacko's like that lady in Texas who said God told her to drown her 5 kids ... and that one recently in CA that 'God told' to throw them off the bridge ...
I mean, this movie almost gives fuel to the nutcase fire ... :scared:

I fear anyone who possesses that much certainty in the context of their faith. Doubt is healthy.

9. The director's commentary on the dvd was very interesting. |
|
They said that originally, they were going to have Paxton have a vision of a space alien rather than a gothic-style angel. Pretty creepy flick, but I like a good creep-out now and then.
