That's what I heard from one of my College Pube coworkers today.

DUers, I'm a very temperate person. But I lost it when I heard this. I dug up the ACTUAL quote and explained to her what it meant--that Gore had taken the initiative in providing the funding for commercial Internet, which is of course true.

She asked me why the media said it then if it wasn't true. Again, I lost it. I went and dug up the names of the owners of all the media conglomerates and showed her that they were all Republicans, as were many of the talking heads.

She didn't talk to me for the rest of the hour.

I could not believe it. I almost had an aneurism. Of course I couldn't remember the exact quote and why the misquote was total bullshit so all I could counter with was "That was a complete misquote." Which just sounds lame. I wish I had the ability to remember pertinant information at the right time. I always go blank.
