Do You Think Hillary Has HONESTLY Forgiven Bill For His Adultery? Or..
... was not getting a divorce the most prudent and logical thing to do for the sake both of their careers?

What it is about my interest in Hillary and Bill is so "annoying" to you, TreasonousBastard?? Please explain how my interest in them so personally affects you to the point that it drives you to take cheap shots.

<< I guess everybody should have a hobby... but some hobbies are a lot more annoying than others. >>

72. Why is speculating about this "annoying"?
Tell me how this is any different from speculating about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Anniston and Vince Vaughn. Or Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

Hey, "Big Dawg" is a celebrity. As is his wife. She may be talked about as a future President (God help us all), but they're celebrities all the same.

If Bill Clinton had kept his dick in his pants and remained faithful to his wife, this discussion would haven't even been brought up. But, there you go. And in this celebrity, "Access Hollywood" driven culture, discussions of celebrities lives are a fact of life. And there's certainly no reason why anynore should feel restrained about talking about it on DU. Unless Skinner announced some new rule about it that I'm not aware of.

65. They are public figures too
and that makes any part of their lives open for speculation.

I think she barely tolerates his existence these days. He humiliated her in front of the whole world and she'll never be over it. I think it hurts him to know that he can never truly undo the damage.

They did love each other deeply once - you can see it in their law school photos together. Sadly, those days are gone for them. The only thing they have in common, and the only thing that unites them in any way, is Chelsea, whom they love dearly.

I doubt she just found out after 20 years of marriage that he had a tendancy to cheat. Some people find that they can live with that. My guess is she decided it was not a deal-breaker a long time before he became president.

12. It's a free country, but I think it's a little disgusting.
Paris Hilton is one thing, but degrading democratic leaders for personal issues seems to be counterproductive and disrespectful.

Maybe I'm just sensitive after so many years of hearing the right wing say the same things. What's next? A poll on what brand of feminine products she uses?

Some things are really private. I fully admit to being snarky and gossipy, so I don't condemn you at all. However, I'm just really uncomfortable with the idea of this.

9. I think so.
I think she excepted his faults to a point. But when the whole Monica mess happened, that was the breaking point for her.

I DO think she was ready to divorce him, but I think they both realized what they would be losing if they split up. Not just her politcal future, but they've been married for decades and they not only love each other .... but they are each other's best friend and most trusted adviser.

he does LOVE her madly. She LOVES him madly. It's the real deal.

BUT.....he is feeling a bit like he might have jumped a bit too soon into a rebound relationship (or was he seeing her BEFORE?). He is wishing they had taken their time a bit more.

On the other hand, he's over the MOON playing Daddy to her two adopted kids. He wants just scads of them with her.

But they are happy, and they are the real deal. He and Jennifer drifted apart a couple of years ago and they both knew it.

49. I think so too.
I think that his thinking with his dick was something that La Hillary put up with for a long time.

But when he was so damn stupid to let the Clenis almost ruin his Presidency, Hillary had enough.

Hillary could have walked away and let him just blow in the wind. But she could not do that to her husband, her best friend, her daughter's father and the President to do that.

Hillary, I think really laid it down for him once and for all. "You keep that thing in your pants or lose it all".

Maybe Bill got therapy. Who knows. That's their business.

But I think about old film of Jackie and JFK. Lord knows that Jackie knew all the shit that JFK was up to. You look at film of Jackie and JFK at state dinners. They are talking and touching and loving each other. What is sad is that when Patrick died, JFK and Jackie shocked people with their public affection that they showed.

I think (and this is my take on this), when Clinton fucked up with La Monica, Hillary put her foot down. I still think that Hillary cared more about her marriage than running for senate. They worked things out and she set out and ran for office.

The moment that I feel really cemented their reconciliation was when President Clinton almost died with his illness.

These two people love each other.

Most people would have thrown in the towel and called it a day.

I think that it's this show what REAL faith is about. Not this bullshit like the Bush's claim that they are "Born again". The Clinton's have a deep trust in their faith .... mostly Hillary. They are not people that have their faith as a token.

Regardless what people in DU might think about Bill and Hillary politically, I think they are people that really love each other and have got thru the fire.

I admire them.

33. I don't know but...
...divorce isn't the only natural outcome of infidelity. Lots of couples work through it in various ways without splitting up. It's not unusual, really. It happens when both parties feel the positive aspects of the relationship outweigh the negative. And that's nobody's decision to make but theirs, and nobody else's opinion matters.

63. Here is the problem with that thought (IMHO)
Edited on Sat Oct-29-05 05:08 AM by OhioBlues
Some men cannot "be taken care of" by just one woman (person). They get horny and if the (an) object of their affection is close by, they grab a tool and get busy. They feel guilty about it later. Don't for 1 second try to lay his mistake on her. This was probably very humiliating for her. She's tough but jeez betrayal is painful no matter what.

I do not think she would stay with him just for the sake of her career. I think they are a really good match for each other.

There is more to marriage than sex. Lots of couples have to deal with infidelity and get through it.

Seems to me, Bill and Monica were just foolin' around, a little bit.

59. she`s accepted it and moved on....but more
importantly his daughter accepted it also. from every picture i have ever seen of those two together there`s a father daughter bond that alot of dads wish they had with their daughters but for some reason can`t.compare the pictures of bush with his daughters and bill and you`ll see what i mean. she`s a daddy`s girl. i`m fortunate to have a daughter who feels the same about me and i`m sure there was alot "you`re just like your dad"!in the clinton household.....

75. How dare you express interest in the private lives of public figures!
Haven't they suffered enough? Much you pile indignity upon indignity by "wondering" things?

You have spent far too long hovering in the bushes outside of their home trying to find answers to quell your rampant curiousity. The recordings of their personal conversations, the film footage, the DNA samples you've gathered...good God, man. Have you no decency? Must you crawl into the very interior of their psyche in your quest to "find shit out?"

You've injected them both with sodium pentathol, interrogated them under bare lightbulbs in dark places with dripping noises in the background...honestly, I don't know how Bill and Hillary have withstood your continued assaults. They must be made of stronger stuff than I. I would have cracked years ago if people had "wondered" this violently about me.

Leave them alone! You've tortured them enough. Let them out of the cellar, let them feel the sun on their faces once again and allow them to pick up the shattered pieces of their lives, you heartless bastard.

But could I get a copy of that picture of Bill's colonoscapy? I need it to complete my mural...

76. Funny you should mention this, because I was just
thinking about this yesterday. Musing to myself about infidelity and the depth of forgiveness, more so because I have a friend going through it, but I was thinking of examples of people who appear as though they have successfully maneuvered themselves around this and the Clintons came to mind.

I don't know if they are happy or not, but it appears as though they are, so that gives me hope that my friends can get through this.

I don't know if I would be so charitable. I would like to think I would, but I simply don't know.
