The Inventor of Gratuitous Time ~ a little ditty for swag... |
|
http://www.toutfait.com/duchamp.jsp?postid=1129&keyword="I was attracted to this neighborhood and wanted to live there, but the houses were at that point so inhabited that any imaginable tenant would immediately appear suspicious. Nobody would believe that someone could seriously think about living in these dilapidated buildings, far from the dignity and comfort that is so proffered by urbanite zeal. In vain, I proposed the excuse that I wanted an artistic existence. This argument, which is often accepted and indulged, only provoked additional mistrust and hostility."

That's quite a beautiful site, and a story worth revisiting a few times. Thanks for thinking of me.

2. The story itself gave me the kind of cold, displaced satisfaction |
|
that I enjoyed when I first encountered "the Large Glass" at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, so I'm pleased to know of Lebel's association with "The Bride Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors, Even."
L'Etant Donnes was a whole 'nother experience, to say the least.
Best to you.
