2. Feeling embarrassed for you. You ought to be ashamed.
But you probably aren't.

3. I'd like to hear from those who answer "important"
Maybe it's just semantic, but I think shame and guilt serve to perpetuate destructive attitudes and behavior sooner than they do affirmative ones. At some point people need to forgive themselves, but not before self-reflection, and never as a matter of expediency.

Consensual sex? Nah. Bringing down the nation? Yes, definitely.

5. Waste of time.
Most of the time, shame is something brought on by lifestyle nazis complaining because they want to control you and you did something they didn't like. If you feel it and there are no people telling you you should feel ashamed, maybe you should talk to some of the people who will shame you some more. They'll confirm whatever it is you feel the need to be ashamed about and it'll cancel it out, maybe. Otherise, just don't do whatever you feel ashamed about again and maybe you won't have to feel ashamed for it again.

I have no shame. For years, I was brow beaten by anti-gay homophobic right wing so-called "Christians" for homosexuality. One day back then, I realized I wasn't getting laid, so they were shaming me for no reason. I decided it was time to go out and quit listening to that bunch. They certainly provided no relief or alternative worth considering. Now, I do what I feel is best and try to be good by my own standards, which is usually totally opposite of what they feel is good. There is something positive about that; I won't have to spend eternity with them if I remain opposite them on most issues. Problem solved. I have no shame.
