2. If I had kids, I'd be more enthusiastic about it. |

As it is...ehhhh...if it went away, I wouldn't miss it.

I dislike having to give candy away. I'm thinking about leaving a big bowl outside with a "sorry, out of candy" note at the bottom.

I don't much care for the giving away of candy either. I guess I'm just a curmudgeon. ;)

They'd do tricks for donut crumbs. Mainly running around like idiots, but it's a trick.
Besides, you're invited. That's different. :)

I wanted to know what GOPisEvil thought, 'cause he asked me to adopt him when I said I made doughnuts.

I LOVE seeing the little kids coming around in their cute costumes...
With their parents watching and smiling from the sidewalk......
A lot of fun for the whole family, when done correctly!

really gory costumes but enjoy Halloween. This year my first grandson is 2 and we got him a Shrek Dragon costume. He is INTO it and that makes it a lot more fun.
But I'm a teacher so I am always aware of all the holidays. They are so important to kids.

28. I always wanted to trick and treat |
|
for drinks but now better not do that. I am delighted to hand out candy though and see the costumes. Speaking of trick and treating for drinks, some of our trick and treaters are so big I am almost tempted ask if they have driver's licenses. Not that I hand out anything more than Jolly Ranchers or minute Snickers Bars.

31. Don't understand how a grave is a good thing on Halloween, not so on other |
|
days.
I *do* like all the kid excitement and the costumes and the candy. And the jack-o-lanterns.
Don't like the gore and the death obsessed and scary stuff--I can appreciate some people do.
But for me, I just don't find bloody clothes funny *any* time. I feel kind of strange seeing graves on people's lawns. I don't enjoy being afraid.
I do however, like princesses and togas.

33. If it were done the way it once was |
|
which was more like "trick for treat, with buskers and whatnot showing off their skills and getting pennies and fruit and stuff tossed to 'em, I'd be 83 gajillion percent behind it. But, like just about every other American holiday, it's been wrecked by corporatism and shifts in the societal paradigm.
I'm gonna do a "When I was a kid" thing now, so just go on to the next post. On second thought, I'll just think it and save you the trouble.

38. I believe that the weekend is becoming more adult oriented. |
|
I am noticing an increase in yard art. I suspect in a few years we may see Halloween yard art equaling Christmas yard art in proportions. The electric companies will reap better profits here than the kiddies. I am also seeing an increase in adult costume parties. I suspect that local Police Departments are doing more and more business on this weekend. (I got to be a designated driver last night, I saw our local PD out in numbers rivaling New Years Eve).
